ive trained weights and kung fu on the same day (note went straight from the gym doing arms to kung-fu and was asked to do 100 push ups :( )

not a pleasurable experience, but i may try it when i start bulking again as ill have more energy :)

kungfu mon, fri and sometimes wed

cardio sometimes on a saturday, and i walk a lot in the mornings everyday,

i be cutting now :).....(note ive lost the weight and increased strength so i think im doing enough cardio, i think the diets been more responsible)

My workout is like this:

Weights Mon, Wed, FRi
Workout 1-shoulders,tris,chest and abs

Workout 2- Back,Biceps,forearms and calves

Workout 3 -legs and abs

I use 12,10,8,6,4 pyramid rep scheme and stick to a power lifting type of workout meaning that bench, deads and squats mean alot to me.

I train in Submission/bjj 3x a week on tuesday thursday and saturday:)

I lift weights between classes in the morning.
Mon - Chest and Bi's
Tues - Back and Tri's
Thurs- Shoulders and abs
Fri - Legs

Oh yeah, who is your instructor and what school are you going to? I'm originally from NJ and when I visit over breaks, I need a place to train at.

i didn't start yet.. i will start after wresling season is over...

The instructor's name is Jeff Miller

Livingston martial arts academy. Classes are in Florum Park

I usually train 6 days a week at a MMA dojo. 2-3 hours. But, since I blew my knee out, I've just been lifting. So, after my knee gets better, I'll get back into the ring much bigger and stronger than I was before. Hopefully my speed won't suffer much.

Look at this...

I used to train in a branch of Goju Ryu 5 days a week. Now i train 3 days a week for about 4 hrs/day. I also hit the gym 5 days a week sometimes on the same ay as karate. Also i go to college 5 days a week so as u can see i am a busy lil bugger. Well ttyl.

I was sort of wondering the same thing. That would be rough.
Since your training seems to be all in the evening, what time of day are you lifting?
If its cool that I ask, are you natural K-CC?

Yeah, it will be a challenge for sure. I am hoping that I can do everything that's non-martial arts related in the mornings. I'll test the routine out and see how my body responds. If it doesn't work out, I'll just tone down the lifting a bit.

Thaibox,

Yes, I am natural. I have thought about juicing many times, but I have come to realize that it just isn't for me. I have no problem with people who do juice, however. I just know how the stuff puts a mental handicap on some of the fighters I know; if they aren't "on", they just aren't the same. I don't ever want to be like that; I want my confidence to come as a result of hardwork and the mastery of technique, not chemical enhancement.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

thai box-

i got 4th in the 17 year old division..

and i lost my first fight in mens division..i lost 2-0..then that guy won the tourney

rgosit, thats good for your first tourney bro. Its one thing to train on a mat in an empty dojo. Its another world to do it in front of a shit load of strangers in that type of environment. You'll get more comfortable with it, and start to whoop all kind of ass. Soon, you'll be doing it in front of thousands of people.

K-CC
I had the exact frame of mind about juice. But, when I was a senior in high school I was 6'1" 140 lbs. So, I clearly didn't have genetics on my side. I stayed natural until I was 24, and despite lifting hard and eating virtually perfect, I was forced to do cardio every single day and not growing very much. Unfortunately, I was 6'2" so I was on the card with shorter and much bigger/stronger guys. Almost every professional fighter I knew was using something from mild cycles to serious GH, A-bombs,1g/wk test, etc. When I was Thai Boxing, I usually had a decent reach advantage to even it out, but when I started NHB, it was a whole new world. I had reached my genetic limit at about 210, so just picture a 5'10" 7% bodyfat shootfighter in my weight class coming at me. So, I did a few cycles and busted my ass. Now I'm 250 with really low bodyfat and up until a recent injury, just as fast and reactive as I was at 210. I also really enjoy bodybuilding, and juice has enabled me to pursue both interests which would usually be physiologically impossible. I'm off cycle now and can deadlift over 5 plates, flat bench 405(before a rotator injury), so it has made me happy.

"I want my confidence to come as a result of hardwork and the mastery of technique, not chemical enhancement."

I agree, and if no one else did it, I wouldn't either. But, if you ever plan on fighting professionally, go talk with the other fighters, and you may change your mind. Personally, I've put in 20 years of hardwork, so my confidence comes directly from pride.

I understand when you say it puts a mental handicap on some. I know guys that train like shit when they are off, because they have come to rely on its effects. I also know guys that are on year round to avoid this. I simply use them as a tool to enhance what I have already acheived. I'm just as driven and motivated off of them as I am on. I see it as this: I've trained my whole life to be the best fighter I can possibly be. I know that I'll be up against guys that have done the same. These guys are bringing an extra tool into the ring with them. Am I going to sacrifice my dreams because I don't believe its correct? Or am I going to bring the same tool into the ring and equalize the fight back down to raw knowledge and talent?

Anyway, I'm not promoting the use of gear, just explaning my reasoning behind it. I definately respect your standpoint.

Oh, by the way. Just thought you'd find this funny. muscletechsux has pm'd me twice, simply saying this...

1 "I raped your mom"

After this one, I simply sent him my career stats, and asked him to be more polite to people he did not know. Then...

2 "fucking steroid user"

I wish this guy would just leave

Thaibox,
You are right, I may have to make a very serious decision. I definitely have the drive to compete, but at the same time I know that unless I start taking gear my chances of success are severly limited. I take a lot of pride in being a "technical" fighter, but MMA fighters have not only become extremely skilled and technical themselves, virtually all of them juice. I find this extremely disheartening, but I also understand that it is the nature of the beast. Don't get me wrong Thaibox, I understand the dilemma that you faced. Personally, I just haven't figured out what's more important to me; being a fighter or being drug free. I guess I'll have to cross that bridge when I get there. For now I'm going to keep training hard and become as good as I can be with the God given gifts that were bestowed upon me.

Thats very respectable K-CC. I know many excellent fighters with the same moral standpoint, some professional. Its not a requirement in this game, just a common tool used by many. That in no way means that that tool can't be overcome by pure heart(which can be much more powerful).

But, it becomes frustrating when you can't choke a guy out because his traps are up to his ears:)

I wrestle and do MMA, and I was in the same situation, 6'2 about 200 pds, after 6 years of lifting. I did one very light cycle and am up to 220 now, ripped as hell. I'll probably do one more to get up to about 240 and that will be it. I found when I came off I actually trained more intensly. Its all in your head. If you were tough before cycling you will still be tough afterwards, unless you turn into a bitch. I know that sounds like nonsense, but thats how it has worked with me and some friends of mine. Some of them turned into bitches after cycling and quit working out/wrestling, while others have excelled and placed very well at nationals after being clean for 6 months. Its all in your head! I do respect your point of view, and I think it is valid for people that are naturally muscular or don't plan on going pro. But I am tall and skinny and want to go pro after college so for me the choice was easy.

stop making up bullshit vietbox, u have lost all my respect as well as the respect of everyone on this board. If you keep it up you will most likely get banned.

damn..i wish i was taller.. about 5-6...

i was about 190-200 pounds wresling and playin football...

i cut down to 164 for the last tourney and going to 159 for the next one.. its a new game./. .i cant be carrying extra weight.. i used to be competing with boys now im fighting with men.

when i i reach a piont ware i consider it impossible to get stronger..i will mostlikley consider juicing.. and this isnt gonna happen probbaly for at least 5 years...until then im gonna keep busting my ass...

Good attitude about it bro. You've got a lot of natural growth left in you.

Also, 5'6" is great. Yeah, at 6'2" I'll have a reach advantage over you, and other advantages. However, if you're a fast shooter, and you get strong as hell, it will become your game. Anyway, if you're fighting in weight classes, the tall guys will be skinny at your weight. Height has its advantages if you know how to play them, and shorter guys have just as many advantages, use them and you'll be sick.

My biggest problem seems to be scheduling work, weight-lifting, and martial arts...

My goal is to lift 3-4 days each week; train in martial arts 3-4 days each week; work 5-6 days each week ;)

I train in Ninjutsu, and we have a fair amount of exercise/calisthenics, pushups, etc. We have 1-hour classes and I attend 3 days a week with about 3-4 extra days each month. I want to add in my own home training (especially of weapons).

For cardio, I ride my bike regularly (about 3-5 miles each day) for errands, trips to the gym, etc. I want to start jogging or better yet, sprinting, but I swear I dont have any more time. Cardio is the key! I should also add in a stretching routine beyond my classes because I sit at a desk all day (and stretching is good for MA as well as w8 lifting...)

My weight routine is usually 1 body part per day (3-4 days per week), usually in the morning. I should up this to 2 body parts or at least add in 30 minutes of cardio, abs, or stretching...

Does anyone have tips on coordinating various training schecules? What compliments what?
