*Married bros: when ya proposed...

My proposal and engagement were really vague and hard to explain. Not romantic though.

If you get engaged, make it so the girl can at least recall the story in a way that makes sense.

I proposed at the country club I am a member of. Real nice atmosphere. Low light, soft music in the background, nice meal.

I wasn't nervous. I dated her for 6 years. The most nervous part was before all that when I asked her dad.

We were at the doctors office...The doc had just told us that she was 2 months pregnant.

So I was like...."Fuck, I guess this means we gotta get married."

Very romantic.
Dan Marino would have been more smooth than that rob. If that is indeed how it went down.

We orderd my diamond and my setting from 2 different places and they both shipped into my office so I could sign for them. But they arrived a week apart. And we didn't really get if we were engaged or not but my dad had sent out a family announcement 2 weeks earlier saying I was engaged.

It was bizarre. So he just leaned into my truck and said "will you marry me" but with a tone that sounded like "I don't get this since we just have ring parts". And I said "Sure but this doesn't feel right". And it was like that until the ring was put together. Then he kept proposing but it was kind of weird and finally it was just a joke. It was dumb.

you were beeing sarcastic

but anyways

we were at a club with live music (back in my country) and he went (without me knowing) and told the bartender to get me a glass of Irish cream and he put the ring in it. The singer came up to me, singing my favourite song to me and passed the glass to me to drink it. I did and when I got to the bottom I thought that thats chocholate so I reached to get it and eat it. LOL. It was the ring

Why the hell did you have ring parts shipped to your office. Why didnt your husband take care of this instead of the UPS guy handing you your ring LOL.

Well this is one other little part that totally takes the romance out of it. lol I ordered my own ring with his cc.

I proposed during a gig. I had written a song for her that we hadn't ever played live before. This was the last song of the night. I went backstage prior and looped a broken guitar string through the ring and then hung it on the headstock of the guitar. The lights dimmed, I walked out on stage and started playing/singing the song alone. The lights slowly came up and there I was in front of an ass pile of people with my future bride right up against the stage. I wasn't really nervous about the proposal, but more about fucking up the song. It was funny because she kept mouthing to me "You have a broken string." As if I didn't notice. So in between verses I mouthed back "Look again". Then she lost it. Once the bridge came around the rest of the band came in and I walked off the stage playing the solo and walked right up to her. It was cool because the crowd just moved right out of the way and shit. I then kneeled down and asked if she would allow me to be her husband. She said yes. At the end of the solo I put the ring on her finger. It was pretty cool.

I had planned to take her to a fancy restaurant. Instead, I woke her up in the morning and asked her to marry me. She, very tired, said yes. I, now that it was in the bag, cancelled the reservations and we ate at McD's.

Interesting relationship you have. If you wanted romance then you should have taken yourself out of the equation and let your husband take care of the ring instead of ordering it yourself with his cc. Unless you think it wasnt going to get done at all in which case any other woman wouldnt have married a guy like that.

I was nervous as hell. I asked her mom for her blessing the week before Cristmas, so she knew what was up. That night my wife asks if we will evr get married. I told her we would talk about it in 6 months, cause I just started a new job. Christmas morning, all presents open, sittin around chatting, and her mom comes up to me and says, "you gonna do it or what? theres vodka in the freezer if you need it." So I start in on this speach to her mom and sisters, about how great they all are, and how they have welcomed me into the family. My wife was clueless, she kept interrupting, and adding to my speech. " yeah, you are great!" and "We really Love you." So I finally get to it and drop to one knee next to her and pull out the rock, and say, " I love you, will you be my wife?" She said "yes" I thought we would be engaged for awhile, and pick a date, take our time, but later that day we had her mom and sisiters over for Christmas dinner, and her mom says, I want you to get married this year. Then my wife says Our anniversary is in august, its on a saturday, we can do it then. I'm like wtf????

In my bedroom as we were getting ready to go out. She had said to me "Where is this relationship going? I'm not getting any younger." I reached under the bed and pulled out ... Nice big diamond ring tied with a bow to the handle of a large cooking pan. She knew what the deal was. LOL

I was not nervous at all.

Son-in-law did a lot better. He came to my home and asked permission to marry my daughter. Then he took her to the grounds of Cranbrook (like a huge formal garden), got down on his knee and proposed.

He was very nervous.

Raina, interesting story. :) Why did you and your hubby choose to do things like that? (Have you order your own ring and have it delivered to your office, etc. Not criticizing, just curious!)

Okay, I am answering for my husband, since he is too lazy to write it out (his words, not mine).

The actual proposal was in the bag, since we were already planning the wedding, lol. But it was still very romantic and meaningful since the timing of the proposal was a suprise.

We picked out 3 rings last May-June. He went and decided exactly which one sometime in late June (without me knowing). He proposed last July 18th. He made reservations at a restaurant we had never been to, at the location of our wedding. It was all a suprise - he just told me to get dressed up and he was going to take me out. We went to dinner, had a great time, then after dinner we went for a walk around the lake. When we got near where our ceremony was going to take place, he stopped me, hugged me, and got down on one knee and proposed. Right next to the lake, with a great view of everything. It was very sweet. I was suprised!

He said he was not nervous until actually getting on one knee. He KNEW I was going to say yes, but actually saying the words made him nervous. I was grinning ear to ear.

I love the place we got engaged and got married. We live in Las Vegas, so there aren't many "romantic" places or good places to go away from casinos and other busy places.

Picture attached is the place we got married - the white arrow on the right side is exactly where he propsed. :)

You nailed it. Just for that I moved her daughter across the country, to settle down and have the kids far, far, away.

Good thinking rob. Your wife made up for her mothers shortcomings by agreeing to move far away from her.

Probably because we got married for a lot of wrong reasons and went about a lot of it in the wrong way.

of course there was nerves, but make sure you do it right - women have a way of never forgetting things if you fuck something like that up.

That's fucking awesome.
The one regret I have is that I wasn't more romantic. I didn't ask the old man's permission or anything. It was already a given that we'd be married since she was 15.
I was 19, she was 17, still in high school. We were both half cut, just finished doin the deed, & I proposed. It wasn't unexpected. I was on leave & everyone was like. "Oh, this is when he's gonna propose."

My girl actually told me to propose while we're doin it....seriously. We both know i'm going to so there isn't much of a suprise left. I think it's kinda wack cuz sooner or later somebody will ask where I proposed and I have to start keeping my lies straight.

LOL! Yes, you'll probably want a different story to tell your families ;)

dude... i had no idea u were THAT serious with her, iv seen u post about her a few times.

all i gotta say is congrats maan

My wife and I both are kind of old school, and she is from a traditional italian family on top of it, so I asked her whole family and her dad all before... so it wasn't a suprise...

went out to a really nice dinner and all that (wine, rack of lamb, etc etc)

went up to this a scenic place and proposed... had what I wanted to say all straight beforehand and all that.. she got all dizzy and lightheaded and almost fell over a couple times... even though she knew it was coming... luckily there was a bench there for her to sit on for a bit....

look out for that... you never know how they might react...

then we went out, drinks, dancing and all that... she was like telling every waiter/server "i just got engaged!" and acting all dizzy, LOL they were like "cut off the broad at table 5!"

yes he did, I'm so proud of him.
He suggested to his friend to put the ring in the fishtank between th erocks and tell his girl to go move them around so she can find the ring there :)

I already posted this, so I'll just copy/paste. BTW, my wife thought we were just going to walk into a jewelry store and pick out her ring and buy it, meaning we were engaged, but I did this instead. Note... I never told her we would do the jewelry store thing, she just told me that after we had gotten engaged. Anyway, here goes...

***quote***
My wife knew I did`nt like going out much and stuff, so when I asked her to go out on a rainy, windy, almost hurricane-like conditions night to go see the big Christmas tree in New York, she said yes. We were at her house at 9 or 10PM and the weather would have kept anyone inside that night, the Ice skating rink was even closed that night (2 days before Christmas) because of the horrible conditions. My plan was to somehow propose to her under the tree or on the ice right next to the tree, but since the rink was closed, I had to think of something else really quick.

We walked around a little bit while the gears were spinning in my head. All this time she had no idea. Then we saw some street vendors by the tree who took pictures of you with whatever happened to be there. I thought I would ask him to snap a pic WHILE I was asking/proposing to her, that would have made an awesome thing to have for memories. As I got closer to the guy, he did`nt seem to speak english too well, so I ditched that plan... lol I did`nt wanna take any chances, I could only do this once. Keep in mind there`s strong winds and rain is practically horizontal and COOOOLD.

THEN IT HAPPENED, I see a horse and buggy ride where you go all around the city sitting in the back, that was what I would do. We get in and start going all around, at midway or so, I start telling her how happy she`s been making me and all the stuff to precede "the question". lol EVERY single time I started to talk, the driver would ask us some stupid ass question like "So, you on vacation?" or "How`s everything so far?" or... something to keep me from proposing! dman him!!!

Anyway, he finally shuts up for 2 minutes straight and I got on one knee and proposed while we were riding in the horse and carraige in the middle of New York City 2 days before Christmas. SHE SAID YES. and was very happy and excited. As I was down on one knee asking, a limo beside us rolled down their window and snapped a picture of us. lol They rolled the window back up, and took off, I never saw them again. I wish I had THAT pic.

We were engaged for about 2 years and married for 8 now.

We have sex every single Christmas. It`s coming soon, I can`t wait, 12 months of waiting is hell.

I can't speak for Raina, cause I don't know about her life, but just cause someone says something like this doesn't neccessarily mean something bad about their spouse.

My wife and I would probably say the exact same thing. We rushed too much and made a LOT of bad decisions which probably set us back at least a few years. In the end it is all good though, and it was a learning experience (one that won't be forgotten)

I took her on a Surprise Sunrise Hot air Balloon ride, planning to ask her
and give her the ring up in the air.

To our surprise, they were making a tourist video that day, and we were
taken in a large 5 person balloon with the 2 video crew dudes.

That spoiled my plans a bit due to the crowd. I had planned on only having the Pilot to deal with when I asked.

Afterwards they had a champagne breakfast for us, more crowds..

So, after the breakfast, I stopped on the way home at one of our favorite parks and we sat on a park bench and I did the whole bended knee routine..

We did get a copy of the video as a momento of the day.. awesome, and it had some good kissing scenes of us with the sun rising in the background.
