Marriage : Before & After

Seriously, I would have to sit down and have a discussion about that with my wife if she got like that. Letting yourself go is a way of saying, "I don't care anymore." I don't think I could stand for that bullshit.

Exactly! I know we all get a little comfortable and gaining 10 lbs or so is one thing, but totally letting yourself go is another. I have never understood why people get so comfortable and just don't give a shit anymore.

damn.... taht sucks... I hate it when fat bishes keep dressing as if they were just as skinny and sexy as they used to be :s

You would take it and like it bor. You forget that you would be married and pwned at that point and she will know it. Any of this "You gotta lose weight" talk would be met with an immediate show of force from her and you would have to take it....because you will be married in america rob.
Your only bargaining leverage would be to divorce. As in "lose weight or get a divorce, honey". See how well that goes once you realize you would get pwned in the divorce also. If she gave a shit about herself and about her marriage and husband she would not let herself go like that. By the time you are pressing the issue its too late.

This is true. I guess I would just treat her like shit until she kills herself. I fucking hate fat people.

we are going to need to see more pictures of you if you are going to keep talking like that :D You'd better be hot and in great shape ;)

That sounds like an official pic request to me. Send her some pics uamav!

I know several Filipina girls who were sub 100lb before marriage and blew out to +150lb within two years of getting married. Fuck me if I marry one.

lol how do they do that?!!!

it has to be like endocrine or something right?

Dude, do you know the food they sell in this country? Combine that with our work/career-based lifestyles and natural changes of the body from late teens to mid twenties, and BAM! There's the reason for the difference between FSU sororities parties and random-corporate firm christmas parties. Add in forming a few babbys for good measure... I mean, whaddaya expect? If you wanna look good as an adult, take steroids or develop an ED.

I didn't realize that people had a gun to their head and someone else made them fat.

The one in the black party dress, what the hell made her think it was okay to go out in public like that? Unless she's trying to attract Black dudes, that is...

It's lifestyle and selection. I'm simply offering a resonable explaination as to why thin teenage girls (guys, too) with firm bodies turn into fat cows, that's all.

^^^This. Face it, humans are designed to be efficient. We evolved when regular meals weren't a guaranteed thing.

However, I would like to add one observation:

In my job (neurology/neurosurgery transcription), I hear the health histories of a relatively wide swath of the American population (the majority of my work is made up of people with chronic headaches, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and dementia) and I can honestly tell you, the most common prescription drugs are for:
1. Blood pressure.
2. Diabetes.
3. Thyroid dysfunction.
4. Stomach problems.

Seriously. That's just weird, think about it.

I mean, less than half of the people I hear about are in the obese and up category, yet over 95% of the people I hear about are usually on some combination of the above four drug categories.

Oh, and one other thing ... pregnancy does some funky things to a lot of women's metabolisms. I'll give you a great example. There was a woman that created an epic thread on these forums entitled "Less clothes" (look it up). Once she had a baby her thyroid went funky and she began the battle with her weight, and now it was a battle, whereas she'd been ripped before.

Everyone take a walk/drive over to their nearest city/town corner. Do you see a GNC? Rice restaurant? Or McDonalds?

Life gets busy, and americans work a lot; hell, finance and law sees 80-100+ hour work weeks pretty often. We *can* eat healthy, but it often isn't practical. Sometimes it isn't even possible.

So while nobody's holding a gun to our heads, we do make choices in life that have lasting influence. Want to be an ibanker, biglawyer, or c-level officer? Well, that means you won't have time to eat healthy, work out, or have [a balanced, healthy] dinner with the family. Want to have 4 kids? Want to travel and be a consultant and work up to VP/MD in the big 4? You get the idea...

Samoth, explain something to me? Computers and technology were supposed to create a world where we worked LESS, yet I see people put in longer and longer hours to maintain. A CEO, a physician, a wall street banker, lawyer, fine, I get that shit, but administrative assistants, garbage men, hairstylists? Employers expect 50+ hours with 2 weeks paid, and that's it, from EVERYONE.

I don't get it.

WTF happened with the whole shift of work/life balance that experts were predicting would happen with the technological advances?

I've heard others discuss the same thing, but I really can't hope to answer that question, since today's world and technology is all I've known. This question is better suited for a boomer who knows the differences.

Competition is what happened.

You're definitely onto something. But here's the catch: Computers, telephones, internet, cars, mass production, etc. etc. actually did make our lives much better. The problem occurs when those breakthroughs don't happen.

Remove inflation from the picture (because it creates a moving target). Now consider how people and businesses can make more money -- productivity is the only way. So if a worker becomes 20% more efficient because of a computer, both the employee and company can make more. True wealth has been created. But in the absence of external productivity gains, the gains have to come from people working longer and harder.

So IMO, the real issue is how to best spark innovation. We (the US) used to have a virtual monopoly on it but we've been losing our edge for a very long time.

I think all this technology made us more efficient but greedy employers dont like to see people with idle time hence they put more work load into them....

your job is competitive. if you work slow or relax a lot, another co-worker or someone else will work harder and longer and steal the promotion or your job. People forget that unless you work in a union or govt job - your competition are other peeps around you.

I don't understand the 40 hr/wk, 50 wk/yr mentality.

If the work is done, who gives a shit how many hours you work?

That's the one thing I like about being self employed ... in fact it's probably the #1 thing, next to not having to leave the house.

except we arent making squat lol
:lmao:

It's the nature of my work that I have what I call "feast or famine" days. Due to the way the holidays fall and the snowstorm's timing I'm having a "famine" week, in fact so I'm coasting now and will be shitting myself by the middle of next month.

But you know what? If I take the actual amount of hours I'm working and do the numbers I still can't find a g'damned job in the private sector that's willing to pay that, so :whatever: I make hay when the sun shines, save for the rainy days and keep trying to get the debt paid off.

Well, if you want to earn whatever 'average' is, that's fine. For those that want moar than that, they're willing to do whatever it takes. That might mean working at a level of effiency, number of hours, and making an amount of sacrifices to make them worth n 'average' people -- and earn the salary of n 'average' people.

There's nothing per se wrong with that, but it does mean that 'average' people have no right complaining that they're not making enough money, have to live in debt, can't afford to send their kids to that prestigious LAC, or what have you. (Isn't this kind of an argument of capitalism versus communism?)

Just because someone's working 100 hours a week in a high paying, high barrier to entry job doesn't mean they're innefficient *because* they're working 100 hours. They're likely working much harder and smarter than the 'average' person. The people that "give a shit" are their bosses or clients signing their paychecks and bonuses, and they give a shit because of how much they're paying them.

Welcome to being a 'being paid to occupy a chair' employee world. Plenty of people nowadays will kill just to get a job - any job.

It's an "employer's market".

Barry's made sure of that!
It's been like that for me since I took my first paying job more than 20 years ago :whatever: There's drones, queens and worker bees and me, people like me, we're worker bees, disposable commodities, doesn't matter whose ass occupies the Oval office.

I can live with that, honestly. That's the karma for this life. I just hate busting my ass twice as hard to keep on the same keel, which started a couple years into G.W.'s watch.

Lower-end jobs have been under attack for some time. Barry has just accelerated the effort.

Employers set the pay rates for job based on the market rate for the job or what work is required to do the job. Employers dont see an applicant and say "hot damn I gotta pay this guy so much more simply because his resume is badass".

I was making $30k+ a year (salary + bonuses) plus had a pension, health insurance and 401K, when I was laid off 7+ years ago. In my region, for my field, that was top of the scale.

That's looking at competition in a negative context. Consider this. Joe makes chairs and Tom makes toasters. Joe's employer wants more chairs out of Joe so they can make more money, but also because Tom can then buy the chair cheaper. Tom is in the same situation in order for Joe to spend less on his toaster.

It stinks being nose-to-the grindstine every day, but neither Joe nor Tom will complain when its time to spend the fruits of their labors. The multiplier effect from productiviity benefits us all.
