marijuana???

I'd like to but since moving about 6months ago I haven't established a source. It's not like gear ie. I don't get ganja lists emailed to me every month! If you do a search you'll find a gizillian posts regarding this. Half the members are for it the other half aren't. (Probably because of lack of motivaton). I can't smoke before working out but after a tough workout I love to come home, down a meal replacment and hit a phatty!

huh? not me...

lil story today I was walking down Yonge St. (Toronto) and ppl kept asking me if I had any weed and I was like how did they know?

then I got into a car and could smell it on myself strong. heh.

Great for increasing appetite, and good to relax muscles before going to bed. Good pain killer also. i broke my arm and dislocated my shoulder in September, and weed and wine combined were the only things that enabled be to sleep. Tylenol 3s didnt do shyte for me. Not a chronic though. I dont think that there is anything wrong with the occasional phatty, in moderation.

Mavy

I did until 2 weeks ago then my gym buddy showed me evidence that weed adversly affects testosterone in the body so i quit, well nearly quit but ive certainly cut down.

Yup

I dont think there is strong enough evidence to in either case. Most of what you see is mearly hearsay. There is however overwhelming evidence that this big block of hashish in front of me tastes delicious and should be smoked in copious amounts :)

you guys are dicks cause i just stopped moking on saturday and now i was blaze up a fat blunt. jk but let me tell you uitting is not easy. i smoked everyday for a LONG time and its been almost a week. im surprisingly not as much of a dick as i thought i would be. as far as im concerned its personal preference of whether or not to smoke. if i smoke i wont go to the gym everyday plain and simple. im envious of all you that can. if it aint gnna fuck with your workout then blaze it up

FACT: it does not lower test levels nor does it raise estrogen levels. the study that these statements were based on was an older study that is now outdated. more recent studies have proved that there is no correlation between marijuanna and test/estrogen fluxuations.

**Alcohol however has been shown to exhibit these properties in a number of studies.

IMO-nothing beats coming home after an intense workout and smoking a fat joint. It increases appetite(good for hardgainers), makes falling asleep easier, helps with pain, along with many other great benefits. If you are taking an anti-e, then it wont matter if it increases est.

The estrogen related side effects of pot are probably overated. Regardless of that, and of more interest to me any way, is pot's well documented demasculizing effect. Anyway, here are some exerpts of articles disucussing negative effects of pot.

The nonpsychoactive cannabinoids may be even more toxic than THC. According to Dr. Roy Hart, "Cannabidiol (CBD) exerts an important effect on the hippocampus which is part of the limbic system of the brain, a collection of interfunctioning units concerned with emotion. CBD produces a depression of hippocampal function...Thus far experimental evidence indicates that CBD is even more toxic to tissues than THC." 16. [Emphasis added] Dr. Gabriel Nahas, Research Professor, New York University, states that cannabionids other than THC (CBN and CBD) also impair dividing cells, and "are even more potent than THC when it comes to inhibiting DNA production." 17.
Dr. Hart further states that "Both the psychoactive and nonpsychoactive cannabinoids occurring in nature interfere with protein synthesis, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis, and ribonucleic acid (RNA) synthesis.

Longtime cannabis researcher, Dr. Gabriel Nahas says that research has shown that the most serious adverse consequences of consumption of THC and other cannabinoids have been observed at the earliest state of reproductive function, on the "gametes" or germ cells of man. These drugs cause damage to the genetic information contained in DNA, causing apoptosis (programmed cell death and deletion). This threatens future generations before they are conceived. 19.

"The effects of pot on athletic performance are increased reaction time, decreased fine motor coordination, and increased heart rate. These effects, along with vasodilating effect , cause an athlete to reach maximum heart rate at a lower than normal intensity of excersise, which decreases maximum work capacity."

Marijuana -

Studies consistently show that marijuana interferes with growth and reproductive hormones. This is of particular significance to developing adolescents who are going through a very vulnerable period of rapid and complex biochemical changes.

The chemicals in marijuana affect the parts of the brain which control and regulate the sex and growth hormones. In males, marijuana can decrease the testosterone level. Testosterone is a major growth hormone and is essential to the completion of the growth process in young males. This process, including the broadening of shoulders, enlargement of muscles in the chest, biceps, and buttocks, deepening of the voice, beard growth and genital development, is dependent on adequate hormone levels. For a long time parents and physicians have described the typical male "pot head" as having narrow shoulders, lack of muscle development (particularly in upper arms, chest, buttocks and upper leg), pale looking face and heavy-lidded eyes. Pediatricians and endocrinologists report increasing cases of pubertal arrest which seem to be marijuana- related. The occasional cases of enlarged breasts in male marijuana users seem to be triggered by the chemical impact on the hormone system.

Regular marijuana use is also associated with a decrease in sperm count and sperm motility, as well as significant increases in abnormal and immature sperm. In many of the sperm, the transmission of DNA is altered and chromosomes are rearranged. Recent animal studies have raised serious concerns that chromosomal aberrations and genetic mutations may be transmitted from the father to the next generation of male offspring. Marijuana is a contributing factor in the rising problem of infertility in males. Young males should know the effects and potential effects of marijuana use on sex and growth processes.

To cast further doubt about safety, the Journal of Immunology (July 2000) recently reported that THC, the major psychoactive component of marijuana (hemp), "can promote tumor growth by impairing the body's anti-tumor immunity system."

Marijuana: interaction with the estrogen receptor
Sauer MA, Rifka SM, Hawks RL, Cutler GB Jr, Loriaux DL.

Crude marijuana extract competed with estradiol for binding to the estrogen receptor of rat uterine cytosol. Pure delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol, however, did not interact with the estrogen receptor. Ten delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol metabolites also failed to compete with estradiol for its receptor. Of several other common cannabinoids tested, only cannabidiol showed any estrogen receptor binding. This was evident only at very high concentrations of cannabidiol. Apigenin, the aglycone of a flavinoid phytoestrogen found in cannabis, displayed high affinity for the estrogen receptor. To assess the biological significance of these receptor data, estrogen activity was measured in vivo with the uterine growth bioassay, using immature rats. Cannabis extract in large doses exhibited neither estrogenic nor antiestrogenic effects. Thus, although estrogen receptor binding activity was observed in crude marijuana extract, and several known components of cannabis, direct estrogenic activity of cannabis extract could not be demonstrated in vivo.

LoL. Not inhaling is only acceptable with cigars. If you're not inhaling weed or cigarettes (cigarettes you shouldnt be smoking period), then you should basically just be lighting your money on fire.
