MANTA RAY- the shoulder piece for squating. Have anyone used this?

I saw this piece to fit perfectly on the shoulders that connects to the sqauting bar at fitnessfactory.com it replaces the pad. Let me know it's better than the good ole cushion pad.

How about this: Dont use anything but the cold steel on your back. All that other stuff is for pussies.

I don't think you have the right to call anyone a pussie after you posted your pics.

The idea is to train smart!!!!!!!!

no no no superdave. you have to put weight on the bar, then youll see why you need a pad or a manta ray. i have not made my mind up about the manta ray yet. i like it but i dont like it. a pad on the bar just feels a little more comfortable to me.

Go with the pad, the manta ray sucks because it tends to cut into your delts on the down.

Manta Ray

Junk. Throws your balance off especially when your bottomed out on the squat. Doesn't feel very natural either. I've still got one I've been trying to sell for years. Along with a lot of other gimmiky things that I've accumulated in the last 30 years.

Well I have one, but it rarely gets used. The only time I use it is on max effort day when I do low box squats. I personally can't stand it because it increases the distance from the hips to the bar. However this is precisely why I find it effective...because it makes it more difficult by changing the bar placement.

As for the pad...no never...never. I actually like having the big red marks on my rear delts. I wear them as badges of honor.

If you need a pansy pad on your back then you aren't placing the bar in the right spot. It should fit comfortably in the groove on the back of your shoulders.

A pad?! Wussy. Put the bar on your back. It hurts? Then do your deads and shurgs and build them damn traps up. Wussy.

Dog, that shits for women. Those and the old-school pads. Any man using that stuff should be sent back to the Nautilus equipment!

I used to love it. If you place it low enough on your back/shoulders I think it feels comfortable as fuck. I quit using it so I would have a better feel for the bar when I went into powerlifting, but I liked it alot. I know guys say it's for pussies, but they can't say shit if your squattin more than them, so I say order it and if it helps you push more weight then more power to you, and if not then trash it.

plifter is right though, you might not be placing the bar in the right place.

The Dude, I bet my traps will blow you away. Now tell us that you never used a belt, glove or lifting straps. Then tell us that you're pro. If someone can add a tool to their arsenal, you know damn well that doesn't make a pussy. Post your pics or claim the pages you're on in the magazines, or else SHUT YOUR HOLE.

I used to use a pad, then I discovered the plastic blue thing and used that. Then, one day everyone was using the pads and I couldn't find the Manta Ray, so it was just the iron vs. my traps.

It didn't bother me, so I kept squatting the same way for the next few weeks. The growth on my traps was better than anything I've experienced with shrugs, although, I still do shrugs.

I highly suggest you start lifting raw. The benefits are worth the extra effort. Any extra "tool" in your arsenal is just another way of robbing your body of another way to grow more powerful.

build those traps and you will have a groove for the bar to fit on.....RADAR

The way you place the bar on your back, traps, neck doesn't effect the growth of the traps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try again

Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, absolutely no work is done on the traps during a squat? Sounds good. I guess I'll leave my traps completely relaxed next time I let the iron ride me.

Thanks, guy. You're a true whiz.

No the traps aren't worked to any degree when you do Squats.

So its not possible to gain mass on your traps while doing squats.

Down the line the added comfort of the pad or manta-ray. will feel beter.

I myself don't use them but I will no reason to cause added stress on the body. We as bodybuilders stress ourselves to the max as it is.

Well some of us do:rolleyes:

When you squat, or rather, when I squat, there is stress put on my traps. I must compensate for that stress by tightening my traps in order to avoid the bar permanently implating itself in my neck.

Based on your logic, holding on to a 315lb loaded bar until it drops will do nothing for your forearms.

In the mean time, I'll go be dumb and cause added stress on the body.

Bye.

Wrong again sorry

Your traps don't hold the weight,,,

If in fact you did hold a bar stacked with 315lbs yes it would be added stress but only stress it will add no mass. Only joint problems because holding a bar with 315lbs is dumb unless you are doing cleans or snatchs.

The bar should "rest" across your shoulders!

Rest across.

The weight sits on your shoulders you don't lift the weight with your traps!!!!!

Only your calves, quads, hams, back, abs. thats it.

I guess my traps must get sore from shrugging so much at foolish posts like these instead of from the bar.

You clearly know everything about this subject. I ph3@r your l33t skillz.

Why is it that people with small traps have trouble squatting, then? (Rhetorical question, BTW. No need to answer.)

Thats ok that your wrong!

You need to visit another forum besides the chat to realize you don't know everything.

You obviously don't use A.A.S. but we do have a nice Workout Forum with alot of natural people.

If you need further help with this subject feel free to ask.

That just about sums it up doesn't.

I don't have a wrong, and even if I did, your sentence still wouldn't make sense.

I already know that I don't know everything, which is why I only discuss things that I know.

And you obviously do - what does that have to do with anything?

BigJay81 said:

No we don't. I used to post there, but then got tired of everyone having flame wars over ass to floor squatting and "bench presses" that weren't really bench presses because the chest never got touched. I'd rather post here and argue about things about which I actually give a damn, like politics, reverse discrimination, and things of that nature.

Will do. Thanks for your concern.

I'll stop posting to this thread unless another subject comes up, for I have better things to do than participate in a one-sided flame war over something as frivolous as what muscles are affected by a squat.

-Warik

It was only frivolous after you posted on the thread.

And yes you need to go back to the other forums you haven't learned enough yet. You have just showed us that.

You waste my time.
Stay small and hatefull

Bye
