Probably one of the biggest conspiracies in U.S. history along with JFK's assassination. Some things just don't make any sense.

How did the man land on the moon if the flag was waving and moving after he placed it on the moon? it doesn't make any sense. there is no gravity on the moon?

is this possible? is this bullshit? whats your opinion?

i haven't seen the video so i want some input for you who have (puddles, mr. db, ect)

The myth busters actually did a show on this. They used techniques in that would have been available at the time to pull the hoax. They even put a flag in a deep vacuum and studied the movement in both atmospheric press and in the vacuum. Turns out its really really really effin hard to fake that kind of shit. Not to mention all the mouths you'd have to keep closed.

I agree, they left a mirror on the moon which we still bounce a laser off to track it's movement. I also feel the same way about religion, it's not even worth the effort.

I had those same hesitations, but I read an explanation on how easy it would have been to fool even the folks in Houston who would have thought they were talking to the guys on the moon. I'm not sure I ever read a thorough explanation for why there was no analog delay in the original transcripts........when it originally happened, Houston was talking with the astronauts with virtually no delay....which would have been impossible with the analog equipment back then. That, the irregular shadow thing........and the fact that they caught the national archives digitally remastering some of the photo's.........I dunno, there might be something to it. I think we eventually did go to the moon and there is an american flag sticking somewhere up there, but maybe we staged that shit to make sure we'd win the propaganda war against the soviets. In terms of world wide prestibe and what we gained from it, it wouldn't have done to allow the soviets to land there first.

Uhhh...you're assuming a hyper competent government. Not to mention, every moon landing hoax theory has been easily debunked.

My first CS professor worked on the Mercury and Gemini projects.

was there ever an explanation for the multiple light sources found in the original photo's? the no delay in the conversations? I don't know what to think either way......I know our govt. isn't terribly competent in "governing us", but I don't doubt they are capable of this kind of shit. Especially given the socio-political stakes at the time. Our landing on the moon was one of the biggest blows to socialism worldwide. Again, I don't doubt that at one point we did....but maybe the first time we was just funnin, it's not inconceivable to me.

There's another issue that I just remembered, the van allen belt......I read that they're still not sure how humans could travel through that intensive radiation. I'm not an expert on radiation so numbers don't mean much to me....but I remember reading that the levels in the van allen field were to great to protect anything organic passing through. Even our best shielding wasn't up to the job. I remember my uncle talking about it a few years ago and he was a polymier engineer.

I watched a documentary that debunked the conspiracy theorists and it included the Van Allen Belt.
Not to mention, my mentor worked on Mercury and Gemini... both programs were building to a moon landing. Do you realize how many people would have to been silenced for a grand cover up? Nixon couldn't cover up a hotel burglary. :)

I have no doubt that we eventuall went.........but there are some real peculiar circumstances surrounding our supposed "first time". I'll look at the penn and teller vid, cause I think they're funny.........but java, P & T are a couple of clowns. I really don't consider them as any sort of "final word" on any subject. They have brought up interesting points, especially that piece on mother theresa.......but they're not the final word, as much as they'd like to pretend they are. Are either of them trained physicists?

"The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) reported on the "halo" generated by the Apollo 15* lunar module engine exhaust plume that was detected in the data from Terrain Camera (TC) image.

This was an image processed by the SELENE mission instrument team from the observation data of the Apollo 15 landing site on the moon (the foot of the Apennine Mountains encircling the Mare Imbrium close to Hadley Rille). This is the world's first report on the detection of the "halo" through observations after the end of the Apollo program.

Through the produced three-dimensional image of the same landscape as that of the picture taken by the Apollo 15 crew, the spatial accuracy of the TC observation was verified. The three dimensional view of the TC clearly shows the layers of lava flows that erupted approximately about 3.2 billion years ago in the upper part of the Hadley Rille.

* The Apollo 15 was the ninth manned mission, and fourth lunar landing mission of the Apollo program. The Apollo 15 was launched on July 26, 1971 (JST), landed on the Moon on July 31, 1971, and then landed back on Earth on August 8, 1971. This mission was the first "J mission" and was primarily concerned with scientific research, and stayed longer on the Moon than previous Apollo missions."

Ever notice conspiracy theorists aren't experts in the areas they're commenting on. It's interesting that two magicians can poke so many holes in things people hold sacred...they bullshit people for a living. :)
 
Conspiracy theories all fall short on one thing. For there to truly be a "conspiracy", everyone involved in said "conspiracy" have to all agree to lie and keep a secret. The moon landing for example, can you imagine the vast number of people who would have to agree to lie and never tell a soul to perpetuate a hoax of that kind of magnitude. From the president, all the way down to the guy who mops the floors of NASA, would all have to act in collusion. I believe Benjamin Franklin said that the only persons who were able to keep a secret were dead.

It's a waste of money because it isn't scientifically significant when compared to other uses for the money. A space telescope to replace Hubble is scientifically more valuable than collecting more moon rock samples.
 
P.S. The fact we have obvious moon rock samples defeats the conspiracy theorist living in a trailer in the southwest defeating all scientific evidence with their arguments.:)

That project has been underway for quite some time too, hasn't it?

I'd love to see an even further advanced and highly technological space telescope out their taking awesome pictures.

Yeah, it's some exciting stuff...bigger, better and can measure more "stuff." The fact you can look into the the sky and see history is kinda cool.:)
 
I'm still going to sit on the fence that the original time we were really there. I didn't get through "all" of those vids java, but all I saw was P and T demonstrating how retarded some of the conspiracy guys are......I understand that. What I didn't see was a rebuttal to some of the fairly substantial accusations that I've read. I remember some guy on Tv commenting on the crisscrossing shadow lines that denoted a third and possibly 4th lightsource. He "tried" to debunk it by creating the exact same circumstances.......and he failed badly. I could see how someone without a science, ie physics or engineering, background could be talked into his argument....but I distinctly remember saying to myself this guy claims to be a scientist yet is disregarding some pretty fundamental principles of physics. It's like when I listen to the anti evolution people talk science, they sound pretty convincing to someone who doesn't know dick about science......which is the case with most of the hill people that call themselves christian in this country.

Until I hear an explanation for the lack of time deficits in the original communications to the incongruent shadows to the altering of the national archive photo's........I'm on the fence. I remember reading somewhere about the idea of how many people would have had to be in on this......it was alot less than most of you realize. The people in Houston could easily have been fooled. My ONLY hesitance to that notion is how could the russians not have figured out we didn't go? You'd think they surely would have been tracking us.......I dunno, there weren't that many satellites up there in the 60's. It would be impossible now to pull that off with say a mission to mars.........the chinese especially would be all over us.

The Japanese recently confirmed, 2008, our landing site for Apollo 15. Of course the Soviets would have pwned the U.S.... If it was fake...they were able to infiltrate the U.S. Nuclear program and steal enough secrets to make their own bomb, the most secret program in the U.S., but they couldn't generate the intelligence to refute a moon landing?


We have moon rocks confirmed to be non-terrestrial and all the other evidence, including the mirror we use to track the moon.

Oh I don't doubt we eventually went. I'll have to dig it up.....but somewhere there is a comparison photo of the moon rocks lying about in the original stock photo's in the national archives and then the "digitally remastered" versions. When someone digitally blew up the originals, it sure looked like a prop. Someone went into those originals and altered that very shot....made the rock look more rounded and natural. That was one of the most eye opening things to me.

Also, isn't one of the moon landing guys now going around telling people that we're being visited by aliens constantly? I guess he must be one of those tin hat boys himself.....??:whatever:

I haven't seen the video, but you are functioning under the mistaken assumption that there is no gravity on the moon. I think the moon has approximately 1/6 of the earth's gravity.

Not to mention the flag had a rod to make it look like it was flying on the moon. Honestly, if you wanted to fake a moon landing would you pretend the moon had an atmosphere? WTF? Nixon couldn't pull off a hotel burglary...and people believe Jesus rose from the dead????:confused:

Having had the priviledge of seeing/handling some of the moon rock samples I figured I'd weigh in on this. And there is no possible way they came from anywhere on planet earth. It was awesome NASA delivered them in this big steel case that weighed about 200lbs on its own much less what the whole package weighed.

It costs about $10,000 to put one pound into orbit. Until we reach the kind of technology that makes it cost effective, there is no point to going back to the moon.

Like a space elevator...
 
Even if it were to ever come out that they didn't land on the moon......Aldrin was still right to punch that guy in the face.
