with all the media attention given to Anna Nichol Smith and the focus on Howard Stern of being such a lowlife and living off of her made me remember a documentory I saw on HBO years ago of what had to be one of the biggest lowlifes ever.
I dont remember the name of the guy but it was a documentory on HBO about the traveling freak shows that were such a big form of entertainment in the 1800 and eary 1900's. I think it was titled "some call them freaks"
This guy discovered a woman who had some type of genetic defect that made her skin real leathery and she had thick hair all over her entire body and face.
This guy thought he could make alot money off of her in a traveling freak show if he could come up with an act or gemick.He decided to give her singing lessons. He started touring her around the country promoting her as the singing lion woman. This documentory showed pictures and even showed an early era filmclip of her singing opera. She became one of the biggest money makers of the traveling freak shows and circus acts during that time period. This guy started getting paranoid when he suspected PT Barnum was trying to lure her away so he married her. A short time later she became pregnet. ( yes he was even porking her) She was worried that the baby would be born with the same genetic defect that she had. the baby was born and had hair all over it and died at birth and she also died.
So this guy has her and the baby stuffed (taxidermy) and continued to travel around the country putting them on display for money. It said he later died in an insane asylum and the display of her holding the baby in the glass encloser disapeared and its where abouts now is not known.
I know this sounds like some crazy movie but this was a documentory and had actual photos and was suppost to be true.
