lunges with 2 dumbells or one barbell?

maybe it makes no difference?

do you think it does?

Do you thik its a good idea to take a rest after each leg, or should i alternate legs, or do a full set of right leg lunges and then do a set of left leg lunges and then rest?

or does it make any difference at all?

Thanks!

thanks!

does it also make a difference if you do a set alternating legs one by one?

or do you think its better to do a set of left a set of right and then take a break?

thanks again!

i always do 4 with my left and then 4 with my right. then rack it. but your goals are prolly different than mine, regardless of the fact the barbells are still superior. :)

thanks ... i'm currently doing 6-8, but will stick to the barbell for the next little while and see how it goes :)

you'll find the barbell counterpart to be of a higher skill requirement. balance, synchronicity, etc. and i think that once you master the movement, you'll be more apt at other things.

... or try traveling/walking lunges w/the barbell if there is an area where you can take 10-20 strides.

I think this is another reason why my back is aching, from doing BB lunges.

You can hold heavier weight across on the back sure, but I prefer walking DB lunges if I am trying to work on neuromuscular efficiency & balance. (FOR me.. i def have imbalances all over its NOT even funny :worried: .. also helps me with grip)

I wobble and can control it if I stick to the walking. :)

Mix it up. There is NO ONE WAY to do things. Find what works for you and then change it around to try other methods & chose the one you like best.

BB lunges def require more balance and push because your center of gravity is much higher, however the bar tends to cut off the circulation to my arms.... The position of the bar doesn't matter and all that - I've tried it all, it just happens.... If you take breaks between sets & aren't doign a high volume per set, then less of an issue....

Mix it up... ok. :)

Benefits of a rear lunge vs a front/walking? Still working your glutes and quads... Is there a difference emphasis with one or the other? On what? The quads? Hamstings?
