Lower Chest Workout Question

Okay this may be a dumb question but should be a quick answer.

At the gym one day i was doing cables for chest, and got to wondering what if I used the cables from the bottom instead of up top.

I have been doing it for a while and i dont know if it is working my lower chest or just a mental state.

So instead of pushing down and pulling in, I am pulling up and in. If that sounds right.

Am I wasting my time with this excersise ? If so what are some other effective lower chest workouts?

I think the exercise you want to do is pull up and out in front of you from the bottom. At the peak, both of your arms should be outstretched in front and your wrists should be almost touching.
