Lower Back Soreness with 5x5

I've been doing the 5x5 for a few weeks now, and my lower back has felt pretty sore. On the Monday workouts, after I do squats, rows, and weighted hypers, I feel like I'm getting a freaking huge pump in lower back. Is this normal? I'm thinking that my lower back was really weak relative to the rest of my body, so my back's just catching up, and the soreness is normal. But I'm worried that I might be doing some of my lifts wrong.

Yes it's normal...

Make absolutely sure you are doing abs a few times a week. Decline Crunches.

It's imperative that your abs are as strong as your making your lower back. For balance and injury prevention.

Muscle soreness or disc pains?

If a, then it means your lower back is weaker then the rest of your body, it will catch up eventually.

If b, then it means you are holding the bar in squats(in most cases) too high on your traps which is putting too much pressure on your spine which causes lower back pain in alot of people.

I had a bulging disk a long time ago, and I remember how that felt. I'm pretty sure it's not a disk, because I don't feel any pain or weakness in my legs. Also, I can feel the soreness directly in my muscles instead of in my spine.

I'll try moving the bar lower on my back when I do squats. I think I might be holding it too high. I'll also be sure to do a lot of ab work, so I don't develop an imbalance.

Thanks all.

as long as it's a pump or soreness after the workouts i think your fine....if it's pain well then that's a different story. make sure your using good form and not jerking the weight...
