Anybody know of any low GI carbs in liquid form that taste half decent for me to mix with protein for my post-workout shake? I mean, often during the day, I'll microwave some oatmeal and blend it with water and protein to chug, but post-workout, I'm thirsty and that doesn't too appealing. I've been using Apple Juice for my post-workout shake... anybody know anything lower GI? Thanks.

I've beel using maltodextrin AKA glucose polymers, which are technically complex carbs but high GI. I am wondering the same thing - what's the lowest GI carbs in liquid form???

lactose has twice the GI rating of fructose

wtf do you want a low GI liquid for AFTER your workout anyways? Low GI is for before, high GI is for after

any food in the liquid form has an higher GI tyhan the same food in a solid form

liquid food is a good form foe post workout high GI carbs

I'm not sure if Next still sells it or not, but when Duchaine helped create his ISOcaloric meal replacement drink, he mentioned using BRANCHED-chain maltodextrins which lowered the GI of his drink. I'm not exactly sure what the GI rating came out to be, but you may want to give it a try.

For me personally I wasn't wondering about this regarding post-work out nutrition. Most agree that high GI is desired post-work out. I was wondering about this for MRPs for other times. When bulking I eat 2-3 meals a day in liquid form so my little digestive track can handle all those cals. I don't want to keep spiking my blood sugar/insulin levels unnecessarily.

Milk has a GI of 32
Apple juice has a GI of 41

Both are low, but milk is lower.
I forgot that milk has a lot of protein, which means that the carb portion of milk is higher GI than apple juice. However, milk is great for between meals, since casein is a slowly digesting protein.
