Lost a friend yesterday

A friend and co-worker of mine died yesterday in a helicopter accident.
He was 32.

Him, his live in girfirend (who also in a friend and co-worker of mine) and his father was out flying. His father is a skilled pilot, and has countless flying hours. They landed outside my friends house, and went in to get something. They ran back out and got in the helicopter. As it was about to take off, something happend, and it only got about 5 meters above the ground when the rotors touched the water, and draged it under.

The girlfrend surfaced pretty quickly after the acident. And some fishers tried to get her out of the water, but she refused, she wanted to find the others. A little while later, the father floated up, unconcious, but alive. But my friend did not appear.

Divers came to the crash fast, and started searching. At last, they found the chopper, but it was at 70m deep, and it was to dark and muddy to see if he was still inside. Finally, late last night, they extracted it from the water, and found him inside.

Its a tragic loss for his family and friends. And he will be missed sorely.

Im 26, and this is the first death of a close one i have experienced. What scares me is that i dont really feel anything. Im guessing it will come when we go to a litte seremony tonight where he died.

This is one thing I fear as I am getting older....friends and loved ones passing away.
I realize your friend died in an accident, but it is never easy. Sorry for your pain.

Thanks you guys.
Im not worried about myself, I can handle it. But im worried for the others i work with, they have taken it hard.

What is really terrible is that i stand to gain from this. Ive been asked to take his shifts at work. Which im glad to do. So i might be doubling my income. That makes me a bit sick to think about.

You had nothing to do with this sad accident. It was an accident. Be there for those you can help and be sure to ask for help. We often forget ourselves in the list of those grieving.

Take care.

Sorry man. I say a prayer for all of you.:(

I just got back from a little seromony at the accident site.
There was about 50-60 of us there. Saddest thing ive ever witnessed.

His 5 year old daughter was there, crying. His mother and father was there, he had to support her to keep her on her feet. The girlfriend was there.

This sucks guys.
