Comparing the Original Star Wars with Lord of the Things/blings rings or whatever is like comparing the Porsche 911 serie with some Mazda crap.

the old school star wars blows LOTR out of the water. cannot compare the 2. there is no trilogy that competes with the first three stars wars that came out.

I missed the original Star Wars "movement" by a couple of years, so it holds nothing for me. I thought the first Lord of the Rings movie was dissapointing too. Overall, they are better than the Star Wars.

I am a huge fan of both. I saw the original SW series so many times I have lost track.

At last count, I've read LOTR 7 times.

Right now, I'd have to say LOTR. That may be because the movies still seem fresh and new, while my interest in SW is waning.

It doesn't help that George Lucas is pumping out this tripe he calls the SW prequel.

My opinion may change in a few years, but for now I would have to say LOTR. The movie seems a bit rushed for my taste though.

I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS THAT MUCH AND I'M NOT THRILLED ABOUT SEEIN' PART 2. WHEN THE DVD COMES OUT I MIGHT STILL BUY IT TO CHECK WHAT ALL THE HYPE IS ALL ABOUT. BRING ME EPISODE 3 THE FINAL STARWARS FLICK.

The orginal Star Wars was revoloutionary at the time, it set the tone for all trilogies to follow. However, LOTR is blowing the new Star Wars trilogy out of the water. Still think Old Star Wars is better than LOTR.
