loosing weight during workout break

Hi.
I just broke my arm 1 1/2 weaks ago and was in hospital for 1 weak. today i weigh about 6 pounds less than before i broke my arm. why did i loose that much weight in such a small time? in hospital i didn't eat too much because all that medicine crap and so on. but i ate about 4 times a day (3 bigger meals and 1 smaller one). i think i got at least 1/2 g of protine per body pound. isn't that enough to keep my weight? well, it is probably at least enough to NOT loose THAT MUCH weight in such a small time.

i took a lot of creatine before and now i don't take it anymore (why should i if i can't do workouts). am i just loosing a lot of water in my muscles? but 6 pounds of water is also A LOT, right? this isn't possible as well, or is it?

i would think it depends on how close you are to your genetic potential. I think a lot of people are wrong when they say you will lose a lot of muscle if you stop training for awhile. Especially for a couple weeks. Yeah maybe some of the bigger boys in here who are above their genetic potential. Keep the protien up and you should be fine. You may loose hardness and yes water if the creatine you were taking was quality. I say this because when I load cell tech I will jump up about 8 pounds in no time. I would think you could loose it pretty quick. I am a firm believer in muscle memory. When you start traing again you should gain any muscle you lost pretty quick. At least I do. It would help to know your stats though.

i now weigh 144 pounds. before it was 150 pounds. i don't know my height in feet, it's 180cm or 1.80m. it's some kind of "average" height.

oh, and btw: yes, i took cell-tech and phosphagen hp as creatine products...
do you really gain 8 pounds in no time when taking cell-tech? are these 8 pounds mainly water or more or less muscles?

SkinnyBoy,

You are confusing me.. in the other thread you said that you were sick and could not keep your lunch down, now you are telling me that you were in the hospital because a broken arm. Is there something I missed?

As for your creatine products... pick one and add creatine monohydrate to it when you take it.

As for your protein intake... try if you can to eat 1g of protein for 1lbs of weight... but really just eat what you can since you are not going to be lifting.

What part of your arm did you break? Forearm? Upper Arm? If forearm, and if you want to lift some, you can do light weight and concentrate of the target area of lifting. Just something to keep them up a little.. you could even do body weight training (which would probably be better). As for your upper body... hit the machines.

well, i did break my arm, and i am sick as well. by the time my stomach feels better, i'll do legs, back, abdominals. i can't do anything else because i broke my upper arm.

oh, and do i really need 1g protine per body pound when i'm not lifting? i mean i just want to KEEP my weight not gain anything...

1.5 to 2 g of protein should be REALLY better...

Yeah usually 7-8lbs if I am off creatine and then I load (cell-tech anyways). I would assume its all water, but intracellular and looks good. Like Barnes3 said I would probably just eat anything you can.

1.5 - 2g for what? again, i just wanna KEEP weight not GAIN. and anyways i've always been reading that 1g is even enough when LIFTING. so why 1.5 - 2g when not even lifting?

The amount the people take in vary depending on their needs, and goals. But try to get 1g of Protein per lb of BodyWeight. This way you will keep your muscle, and when you return to lifting your weights your muscles will be fully recovered and ready for action.

the weight gain is 100% water. yes the water is in your muscle cells but that's all it is. you are not growing new muscle because of creatine.

i am confused here..............if you just lost 6 pounds why are you saying that you don't want to gain weight?

well, i'm not going to gym at the moment because i can't, so i can't gain weight at this moment (only fat...). that's why i wanna keep my weight till i can go to gym again...

just eat a healthy diet man
people stay the same weight for years or gain weight, if you can eat normal you should have no problem keeping your weight

just use this time to relax, recover and setup a diet/workout plan to get the goals you want when you get better

good luck
