Looking for a new gym

Hey all. I'm looking for a new gym since my previous membership expired and my wife really isn't comfortable going there. I'm trying to think of all the things I need in a gym to workout and don't want to forget anything so here is a preliminary list of requirements:

Squat Rack that is tall enough for me (i'm 6'4")
Somewhere to do deadlifts and enough plates to do a respectable deadlift
Benches for bench press
adjustable benches for dumbell work
dumbell set with the heaviest set no less than 100 lbs

What else am I missing as far as stuff I need at the gym for weight training?

The main reason I'm trying to get a list is because we went and visited a new YMCA they are building near us and they didn't even have a squat rack. Just 2 smith machines and 1 bench for BP.

That's pretty much all you need. Maybe a can of "douchebag be gone" to avoid the typical gym fucks.

Second though, save money in the long run and buy a home setup.

check out a golds gym if there is one in your area. believe it or not they started as a bodybuilding gym, and every single golds that ive seen has all the free weights most people need. the one i use has 3 squats racks, dumbells up to 135, movable benches, both incline and flat, tons of BB benches, and a shitton of hammer strength if youre into those.

I do quite a bit of traveling and try to find gyms where ever I end up. I think the situation you have here is that what you are looking for in a gym is not what your wife is looking for in a gym. Point in case,..I love finding gyms that are hardcore, no bs. However, my ole lady would never go to half of them. I too have also tried the home gym affair. It gets to the point that you need so much more weight and bigger dumbells, it's not worth the price, not to mention the space you have to find. All I can tell you is GOOD LUCK !!!!!
Keep your eye on your goal.

What region of the country are you in?? Either a private hardcore place, a college weightroom.....or sometimes a chain like Gold's or Power House can be pretty hardcore DEPENDING on the local ownership......as long as you're well under 7' you shouldn't have trouble in a power rack....you can't press in them though, I am only about 6' and I can't do any pressing inside of any power rack I have ever encountered.....but for squats etc, as long as you're not flirting with the 7' mark, you should be just fine.
