looking at total fat vs. sat. fat

what do you guys or girls look at while leaning or just overall dieting. should you look at the overall and the sat or just the total. i once read that you could take in anywhere from 60 to 90
grams of total fat a day but just stay below 15 grams of total fat. is this accurate. and does anybody take in honey in their diet.
 
when you're looking for fats you should mainly concentrate on the good fats or EFA's (essential fatty acids). The EFA's are polyunsaturated fats that mostly come from oils like olive oil and canola oil. Other good fats are monounsaturated but they're not considered EFA's. Yous hould always try to stay away from foods with high saturated fats. Your body (when depleted of glycogen) will turn first to the EFA's for energy, then the monousatureated fats and then finally the saturated. When you look at a label and it tells you how much fat the item has per serving it's talking about total fat, that's why you always see saturated fat below it, that lets you know how many grams of fat are saturated out of the total....so to find out how much are unsaturated just subtract the amount of saturated fats from the totall and there you go.
 
eating fat is not bad when trying to lose fat-just ask dr atkins-honey is also not something you'd really want to eat when trying to lose weight
 
Actually, olive and canola oil are good sources of monounsaturated fats. They're not that rich in polyunsaturated fats like flax seed, walnut, or sunflower oils.
 
Saturated fats when used in low amounts, around 20g/day can promote healthy testosterone levels. But, the fact stands that you count the overall fat content....I would use mainly EFA's when cutting, due to their fat-loss promoting properties.
