Most companies settle for a less outrageous amount.

My first goal was not to have a mortgage and i suceeded but i think its good to have a little debt because it keeps you afloat. Thats the way i like it anyways.

It's funny you say that i was thinking today how i like having a little bit of debt, I think it makes me wanna work, and i find i can't save money so i don't mind having some on tick it's just like saving to me

Something like that. The first job I ever had outside of waiting tables turned out to be a really shady guy. I had no idea, blah, blah. Anyhoo, I had 2.5 years of making a lot of money, he told us taxes and everything were taken out of our checks, but he always gave us hand written ones. He also said he had a company accountant that would do all of our taxes each year. I left to a different company and never thought twice about it. Turned out he got busted for loan fraud and tax evasion and told the auditors he had 1099'd us all the whole time. So asshole was taking the taxes out when he paid us, pocketed them, and never filed for us. Then he said we never paid our taxes. So we all got fucked for the full amount of our commissions for 2+ years plus penalties, plus interest. My bill was $150K+ when I first started paying.

Good shit.

the real money is suing them...

then encouraging them to 'settle' with you out of court.

there are vultures that do nothing more than look for entities with big pockets - then sue them.

No. I pretty much exhausted my options. He covered his tracks pretty well. He ended up serving time for fraud, was heavily fined, lost his license, and had to pay a lot of back taxes.
