Today I'm listening to my family make Christmas plans. And not one fugging word about my new daughter. These selfish people are going to freeze out a 16 year old little kid?

They were raised to find the love, be compassionate and understanding. And they have demonstrated this over and over with cats, dogs and other people. They do pro bono work all the time and give to the community and causes.

And now ... crazy old Dad and his bastard daughter are being froze out.

They have 30 days to find the love or they will have to deal with me. This is a level of disrespect that will not be tolerated.

Damn, I am sorry to hear that. Let it grow on them a little. It may just be a little hard for them to have immediate feelings for her. I had some relatives that I did not ever meet until I was an adult and it just took me some time to love them. Talk to them about how you would like to have her included. They may have a difficult time approaching the subject if they are unsure of what level involvement you are going to have and what level you want them to be involved.

I'm really happy for you! You are one of the good guys out there, certainly.

Family is not decided by blood alone.

My sister and her family and my kids and husband and my gf are my only family.

Everyone else is just someone I am related to. I didn't ask for that and neither did they. They blew THE PRIVILIGE of being in my life some years ago. Since my sister and I have cut them out, our lives have been MUCH MUCH happier.

Not telling you what to do because you are grown. Just sayin that the earth didn't swallow me whole because I cut blood-related people out of my life for being toxic is all.

I don't know if you have other children/wife, etc., but if she is your only immediate family, and your relatives aren't willing to acknowledge her, then I think it's time to make some new holiday traditions with your daughter.

Sorry about your situation. My sisters and I were adopted by my mom's second husband, and his family has never accepted us. Speaking from experience, if your family continues with this sort of treatment, it's best not to expose your daughter to it.
