It's not a reflection of the US Army, it's a reflection of the pansy ass lazy youth of today. It's not an easy thing to keep a strong flow of recruits especially during war time. I'm sure if the Army could be more like the Corps they would but it's just a sign of the times. Even the USMC has eased up a little bit.

Post-basic training I can understand. But I didn't know the Army shut down basic for Holidays.

i enlisted in the army in 92 and two weeks before my AIT graduation, it all shut down for christmas exodus. i did not go home though, i saved my leave and took it later.
