I was at a meeting today at my friend’s place of business. He owns the place so I thought I would stop in while I was there to say hi. His secretary showed me in he was on the phone at the time. I sat there for some time and the companies mail lady stopped in and dropped a big pile on his desk. He proceeded to browse through the pile. He came to a manila envelope and a big smile came over his face. He promptly got of the phone and he tore the envelope open like it was Christmas. He read the contents briefly and handed it to me. Of course it was the test results I’ve attached bellow. Now before all you people get bent out of shape about the fact that he would not let me post the name of the lab or the control number of the test let me recap our conversation on the subject. I asked him if he had all of his gear tested and he said yes I try to test every third or forth batch of gear. If I find a company allways misses their label claims or has I high bacterial count then I take that into consideration for future orders. I then proceeded to ask him why he never posted the results. He said well there are a few reasons. One is I paid for the test myself (by the way he pays between $275.00-$350.00 per test). So if you paid for the test yourself and posted it like all of the other people on EF and they flamed the validity of the test would you keep posting the results. I think NOT. I then said to him well the reason every one doubts the tests that are posted is that most if not all of them are fake or from known company bashers. Also none of the people who post will post the lab name or the control numbers. He said that he would bet a years salary that 50% of EF’s posters couldn’t read a real test if they had one. He said do you understand why someone with a real test cannot or will not post the name or control number. I said would you explain? He then told me that there are a few reasons. One in his case he owns a very successful business that just happens to be a DEA registered company. He can buy or have any thing except schedule 1 drugs, but the catch is everything he buys sells or destroys is logged, everything. If some were to come up missing he would risk losing his license. So he is able to use this license to have his gear tested. He sends it in with his DEA number and they test it and send back the results. Now the testing lab has to log in and out all samples. This works great unless some one casts a suspicious eye onto the labs log books and goes looking to see just why is his company having gear tested. So if he was to post the results he risks not only the flames of ungrateful people on the board but the chance that some DEA officer sees the results and goes looking around at the lab to see exactly who did pay for that test. He also said to me did you see the post a few weeks back were someone said to a so called lab test poster” If you really had the test done it would be public knowledge and we could just call and get the results” I said no. He said do you realize just how stupid that guy is? If my company paid for the test it is my test not a public test. He said I‘m almost positive every customer of the labs I use has signed a non-disclosure contract with the lab just like I did. The lab can’t revile the results even if you do have the control number. The only people that could get this info is the DEA and that is just because it was a test that involved a scheduled chemical. Now he gave me an example. He had a competitors product tested a few months back (his initials are BP). He used the test results in some advertising and when the product development guy saw the ads that posted those test results he was very upset. He called my friends company and demanded a copy of the test. My friend explained to him that he had an outside lab do the tests and he would give him a copy of the test but he would not disclose the methodology for the testing. This really upset the other company they tried to get an injunction and get a court order for the lab tests. Needless to say they didn’t get anywhere.
Well, after a long conversation I finally convinced him to give me a copy of the test even if he did have to black it out. I told him I would post it. He said your wasting your time. He then said you do that maybe all even take some time to flame you like everyone else is going to do. All I can say is that it is sad that the people on the board that really do have resource that we could all use are to scared to post because of the ridiculing they get. I know from now on at least I can get good test results on almost any product, well at least any product that my friend uses.
Oh I asked him what he thought of the test results. He said it looked like the underground company did a three way batch lot change because it is very uncommon for a batch to very at all if they make 250 gallons at 4mg/ml it should all be 4mg/ml. Where the concentrations and the bacterial loads were very similar in through out the five samples he figures they made three batches one 1.5% over one 5% over and one 11% over. Then they did lot change forms to give all tree batches the same lot number. This would be bad if one of the batches went bad they would have to recall all of the products with that lot number but it does make counterfeiting harder if there are fewer lot numbers. Also if you have some one test it they have a 33% chance of getting the 11% overage sample.
Well I have to apologize for my lack of understanding on some of these issues but I felt it would be good to get the word out and express the feelings of some of our less forward members of this board.
