ok I'm training MMA as you guys probubly noticed from my big thread about the subject of my training
what I'm looking for here is examples of guys to watch that are very solid at striking iin the Clinch and have good takedown defence from the Clinch
I watch Randy for good Clinch Boxing
but he mostly does takedowns instead of resistence
tho he does avoid ones others initiate so he's one of the good ones for me to watch I think
I mostly watch UFC but I'd be glad to get a Pride dvd if some great examples where there
like I think Wanderlie is a good one fo rme to watch clinchstrike wise
any others

You have to see the Kimo Vs Royce Gracie Fight . Ufc #3 or 5 , I think .

Others ... Watch Tim Silvia , actually any of the Strikers out of the Milititch Camp , and anything you can get on Genki Sudo he has a Wicked Bow & Arrow stance . Hes switched to Pride of late though I think he did some UFC Matches earlier

Do any of the gracies still do UFC stuff?? I haven't followed the matches in awhile, but I love MMA. Just got some fights on DVD from netflix.

I really like Shogun's clinch game right now.

I just watch everybody. You can learn something from everybody.

yah I like watching everybody to
but I'm not going to get much offensivly watching someone who's fight style is totally different from my own
tho really I'd just as soon have a solid level of ability at every range really

Randy's clinchwork is the best, any of the chutebox guys, oh and that guy from holland Alistar Overeem for knees. Dan Henderson has a mean clinch to punch attack.

I think what you might want to look into is not the guys that fight "your style" but rather guys that have your bodybuild and see what style they are making work for them. You can watch Alistar Overeem throw knees all day, but if you are not built the way he is, your knees will not be ass high or quick.

But you can still learn about the clinch from watching him, regardless of your body type. "what I'm looking for here is examples of guys to watch that are very solid at striking iin the Clinch and have good takedown defence from the Clinch" and that was the question. You make a good point about body types though, and that should def. be taken into consideration. However I believe that you should be willing to try anything, for instance Ryo Chonan going for scissors sweep takedown to inverted heel hook against I think it was Pele or one of those chutebox guys, anyway the guy was much taller with really long legs and it was a risky move but it one the fight for him. Or even Royce going to the ground with Akebono, you wouldn't think his body type was suited for it due to the massive difference in size, but he made it work for him. Kevin Randleman knocking out Cro Cop KR is all of 5'7 or something and Cro Cop is like 6'2 or 3.

I'm built like Mike Tyson but with a bit less muscle and a lot more bodyfat
I'm working to get rid of the bodyfat actually

Watch it all and take it with a grain of salt.

Some fights are very exciting and full of action and some are long, slow wrestling matches. Some fighters look like bodybuilders and others look soft and pudgy but on game day anyone can win.

The longer you are around the sport the more you learn. On any given day any decent fighter can win if things are in his favor. Sometimes a fighter is in great shape but the flight to Japan (PRIDE) dehydrates them and they get tired really quick. Other times an old injury can sneak up on you and cause unexpected problems. You can also get in a lucky shot and get an instant knockout if you are prepared to capitalize on a split second opportunity.

Preparation and hard training is the key and experience will usually provide an edge.

watch some highlight clips and watch some of the BEST guys fights focus on your weight class but also watch some of the lighter guys as well

watch for the moves that they are most effective with and see what you think of them and then just look for moves you find appealing for one reason or another and see if you can make it work.

Guys , read his Post , hes looking for some SPECIFIC things . And Im TELLING you , for what he wants , Silvia , Sudo , The Militech camp guys .

the only problem with watching Silvia is his reach, he wil have some options that arn't there for me
or is that Silva
I get confused with Silva and Silvia one is the big lumbering UFC guy and the other is the lean Pride guy yeah?
I saw Militech and thought you ment Tim but you probubly ment Wanderlie huh?
