Lifting to Lose

So I have been bulking for a few months and the time has come to cut. I know this isn't a weight loss forum but i wanted to lay out my plan and get some advice.

basically im going to reduce the amount of calories i take in. I am already an anally healthy eater, but ill become even more anal. staying away from every liquid but water, wtaching out for high fructose corn syrup, and only eating complex carbs, not simple sugars.

lifting wise ill was going to be doing 3 sets 20 reps of mostly compound exercises.

am i headed in the right direction with this plan?

i am only expecting to cut 2-4 lbs of fat and i am hoping to do it in about 20 days.

this is not a crash diet.

20 reps may be a bit too high. It all depends on how your body reacts to it though.

I recommend doing what you feel is right and adjust accordingly. If your quality mass is dropping as fast as your fat then you have to adjust it.

Typically what I do when I need to cut fat is increase the reps but also throw in heavy sets to mix it up so I am maintaining my strength and current level of muscle.

IMO the best thing is to have a solid diet in place. This will matter the most.

Right now I am trying to drop some weight and also gain lean muscle mass (I just got out of surgery 5 weeks ago). I will not repeat it all here (see my diet and exercise in the thread below) but the bottom line is I am hitting cardio, but also consuming high levels of protein with moderate cards. Roughly 300g or protein per day with 100-200g of carbs. I adjust my carbs depending on how I feel. If I am sluggish I will increase them slightly.

My schedule and diet is in the link below (a few posts down)

dont worry about reps ranges or sets, it has nothing to do with weight loss or cutting. its all about diet bro. if anything decrease your rest in between sets and exercises

keep reps low and weight high to preserve strength and muscle( as much as possible) , is always the method i thought was best?

I agree, the diet will do changes. Try some AM cardio on empty stomach also, or cardio interval training.
