1st let me preface my remarks by taking note that many non-plat members are valued members of the community and ,without a doubt, make the board what it is---but they are not the ones taking issue with the financial operation of the board.

business 101--the site serves a community but it takes $$ to run it. same reason as other forms of media--tv, radio, newspaper, etc.

w/o sponsors, plat members, & e-books, there is no site.

Geo, Digger, EF Frank have no duty to run such a clean and legit site--or any site at all. They made a business decision to allow you as a non-paying member to have access to a lot of the site--the trade-off is there needs to be some source of income.

its simple- if you like the site--you have the option to support it--they give you that option. some of us feel $11/month is worth it and want to support the site and keep it clean and legal. others feel why should i pay when i can get it for free--fine, but you do nopt get all the extra goodies that paying members get.

And, yes, I donate to NPR and PBS because I listen for free. I have a banner ad at the bottom of my signature and do not get paid, nor do have I gotten any free products--I just think he is a good bro with good products and he supports the site, so I support him.

And before you ask, mods do not get paid--we just believe in helping people and keeping the site clean so maybe, just maybe, the good bros on this site manage to convince even one kid to wait a few years before doing any gear.
