"Life was better when..."

Lately, I've been reading some commentary on the Internet where the author decries the latest trend (porn is too much, oil was cheaper back then, life was simplier, blah, blah) and longs for yesteryear when life was simplier.

I don't quite get it. Things change. Isn't good and bad just personal intepretation of the change (not a universal truth)?

There's been a few books written about the subject. Many have argued that yesterday's standard of living may have been higher than our current one. Imagine the 50's and 60's -- you got employed by a major corporation for life. You put your forty hours in, then came home to your attentive wife who had the kids dressed and dinner on the table. Your blackberry didn't go off every 20 minutes with last-minute to-do's from your boss either. Dinner conversation wasn't centered around your wife's arch-enemy at work who is working to "destroy" her, nor did you have to wonder if your kids had tried hard drugs yet. You probably left your home unlocked and your keys in your car.

Not bad, eh?

Silver blue. Tsk tsk.

How is the new Mac, which kind did U get.
I've never owned a desktop mac.
Had 4 macbooks. One got destroyed, One got stolen, One I sold, and the 4th is a graduation/birthday/christmas gift.

Well, I wants specs. I'm getting so douchelike bout my commodified persona, that I think I get almost aroused by like hearing Mac specs, that I could call up the Apple Store and talk dirty, like bout the new NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics and 2.4 GHZ, and get hawt.

I need to check myself...LOL

I got the 'cheapest' of the newest set of Macbooks at $1399 CDN...so $50 USD.

It's great. As for specifics, it's got p7350 x 2, 2GB, 160 GB, and 9400. At first I was concerned that the specifications were low, but OSX is tuned for it so I don't have any issues.

*hater alert*

Hi geeks!

Oh yeah, and 4gb ram + two 320 GB, 15,000 RPM drives that are striped together in a raid 0 configuration for 2x faster access.

I rule the Intrawebs! Muahahahahahaha!
