Life Changing Diagnosis

badslinky said:
Well my problem started here: http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=475489

Three days ago I went to go see a neurologist for a muscle biopsy and an MRI and xray and stuff. My doc referred me to him after I had been having repeated rhabdmyolysis with cpk as high 40,000, muscle twitching and cramping as well as spasms. So he rulled out virus, enzyme def, inflamatory disorder, other drug induced thing which could cause these symptoms leaving nurological disorder of some sort being an option. So I go in to see the nero today and he tells me I may have lou gerhigs <sp> disease and there is no way to diagnosis it 100%through tests until the symptoms progress. I dont know how to cope with this. prognosis is horrible. this is insaine. I dont have it 100% yet but they wouldnt of told me this today if they didnt think this was the case. I dont know what Im gonna do. :worried:

Prayer and positive thinking are two of the most powerful forces in the world. I don't know you, but you will be in my prayers and I will have my dad add you to his prayer list. Keep us posted.

If it's any comfort, everything in life can be a blessing or a curse and NONE of us knows what the future holds. Last week my buddies girl friend hit a guy who ran a red light and he didn't make it.

Nothing is guaranteed in this life. If you "do" have this disease then make a vow to live life to the fullest. Determine in your mind to make it a blessing and not a burden.

If you want to PM feel free to do so.

Thankyou for the kind words Rupe.

You're welcome and that came from the heart bro. I lost my one brother a few years ago and his courage in the face of his illness inspires me to this day. I have a son who has Cerebral Palsy and he'll never walk, can't feed himself, will always need our care, but he's a tough kid with a great outlook on life and his problems.

He never complains.

No matter what you're lot in life is, face it with courage, and be positive. Choose to be a winner. We all have our crosses to bear. It's how we bear them that what defines us.

I'm not suggesting you will always be strong, or positive, or brave, or thankful, but if at the end of each day you go to sleep knowing you lived that day to the fullest you will win either way.

When my son was born I was very bitter and angry and I shook my fist at God and it took me several years to get over it. I now regret my weakness and lack of faith and courage, but I know I'm forgiven and that's the most important thing.

Trust me, this life is not the end of the road, it's just the beginning.

I suggest you read a book called "Be my Guest" by Conrad Hilton. It's an incredibley inspiring book. He was an amazing man.

Like I said if you ever want to talk I'd be more than happy to. I truly understand and thats why we're all here, to help each other along the way.

And to let you know you're not selfish at all. You're just being human. I just wanted to show you to let you know we all have burdens in our life, not a one of us is immune. True some have it worse than others, but I TRULY feel the more heart and courage you have the more you're given to carry.

My point of view is God must really think a lot of your courage and character and He will see you through.

Well tomorrow im going in for another muscle biopsy and EMG with another neuro, my friends brother(he'll def shoot straight with me). Keepin my fingers crossed. Thanks again Rupe you have brought alot of clarity to my sitiuation.

Best thoughts & prayers with you --- life has all sorts of challenges, but its still life. The alternative is not life, no challenges, no joys, no nuthin. There are many ways to get out of life what we want, but the important thing is to make the decision to get those things. And in the mean time. definitely get a 2nd, 3rd , 4th opinion, get the keywords and topics to research so you aren't left sitting there freaking out.

All my thoughts & prayers for clarity and the best for you.

K also to BigRupe --- good words from a good man!
