Libido issues

Anti depressants (serotonin inhibitors) kill libido. Using UNLEASHED with PF POST-CYCLE will help with the ED but you have to get together with your doc to adjust the AD dosage.

The doctor completely dropped him off the Prozac 8 weeks ago Nelson.

Then there's going to be a backlash. Both is clearing the system of the drugs and getting you hormones to adapt to being without them. The UNLEASHED / PF POST-CYCLE combo will definitely help in the interim. Give it time.

Prozac should not cause ED. More likely would be ejaculation problems. ED is likely a side effect of the depression

instead of fixing the root problems why do docs insist on handing out more drugs like candy?

he is depressed.

give him drugs.

now he has ED

give him drugs

now he has ejaculation problems

give him drugs.

its a domino effect .. patients need to stop being naive and taking whatever docs hand to them. you wouldn't even trust the candy neighbors give your kids, but you will ingest drugs with crazy side effects without asking questions?

From your user name "Dr_MD" I hope you're not serious!!!??? Erectile Dysfunction is the NUMBER 1 side effect of of serotonin inhibitors like Prozac, Paxil, etc.
In rare cases, serotonin inhibitors also have the ability to cause PERMANENT erectile dysfunction as well!
I'd suggest knowing your drugs, their side effects, and long term effects on the body before throwing out bullshit information like you did. In fact, I'm going to go as far as to tell the OP to ignore what you said completely.

I'm also still going to agree with Steve, and now Nelson as well. I think the natural route should be exhausted first before seeing a doctor, just to be put on more drugs to treat the symptom, and not the root of the problem.

I suggest you check your pharmacology Jester72. ED certainly ins't the number 1 side effect of SSRIs. Prozac is one of the least likely SSRIs to cause ED. Don't confuse ED with ejaculation problems...not the same thing. Yes, i'm an MD and have been lurking on here for a while but only registered a day or so ago.

Stevesmi, i love your post. I wish i could tell patients that have problems to get off their asses, stop eating McDonalds and get to the gym but I would lose my license! Although the advice would be very fitting. You have to remember, that a conventionally trained Dr is trained to prescribe and do surgery to correct problems. That's our job. Patients have to be their own advocates for health care and take some responsibility..... as it seems a lot of people on here do (kudos). Further, the sad fact is that if a patient goes to a Dr and doesn't leave with some sort of prescription they feel cheated. Sad but true!

Nelson, BTW. Love unleashed!!!

I just checked again, and it's technically the second most common side effect, behind only nausea/dizziness. That's coming from the Mayo Clinic as my reference as well.

Either way, ED (not ejaculation issues) is a common side effect, and rare long term/permanent effect.

From drugs.com which is the mainstay we use for prescribing:

Genitourinary side effects including sexual dysfunction have been reported. The manufacturer has reported sexual dysfunction side effects at rate of 2%. Specific problems reported include male and female anorgasmia, decreased libido, penile anesthesia, vaginal anesthesia, ejaculatory dysfunction, and impotence

2% is generally of no statistical significance.

2% is generally of no statistical significance.

Except for when it applies for someone in that 2% and their doctor doesn't believe it because its not significant statistically and wants to keep bandaiding the problem ;)

Now please....dont take offense. that was not a shot at you. I'm not trying to start shit with you. As I know Steve wasn't either. It was a shot at general practitioners across the board. I don't know you so I cannot in good conscience lump you into the pile.

As a real MD I'm glad you are here. I would love to hear your perspective on many topics of discussion here.
