Let's see if those goals were indeed reasonable ...

Alright, I'm gonna take a break from the 5x5 for a while and try a different routine, just to change it up some. I love the 5x5. It has worked wonders with my strength ...

Anywho, this week, just to boost my ego a little, I'm gonna test 4 max lifts. After that, I'm gonna take a week off to let the CNS recuperate, and then I'm gonna give a new routine a try.

Tonight: Military press.
Tues: Squat.
Thurs: Bench.
Fri: Deadlift.

I had posted on B Fold's thread about short term goals what I wanted these lifts to be. Let's hope for the best. :)

Whew...gonna be a rough week man:)

Smash the fuck out of those Prs, and keep us posted on the way.

Alrighty. About 10 weeks ago, I could military press 185 for one. Tonight, I shattered my goal of 200 with a 230 press for a 1RM. That also is a new PR. I am damn happy.

gman, CCJ, thriller ... thanks a lot guys. I appreciate it a lot.

Okay, change of plans. I just was informed that I have a free ticket to the Phillies/Braves game tomorrow night with amazing seats, so I'm just gonna move my squat attempt to next Tuesday. Progress will be posted.

Oh, Bones and Thai, the encouragement is also appreciated a lot. Thanks brolies.

Alright now. Today was chest/tri day. My goal for my bench strength was an even 300. The results:

I am 2 for 2! I put up 300! I tried to get 315 after that. to match my PR, but I needed a small spot to get it up. So, I left my lift at 300. Goal surpassed.

Like I said, that' 2 for 2. Both my military press and bench press goals have been obtained. I'm psyched as hell for my deadlift tomorrow. I had previously outdone myself about a month ago, and shattered my deadlift goal by I think 30 pounds. So, tomorrow is just going to see if I can outlift myself. Wish me luck.

gman, Monday, my warmups were:
135 for 5
155 for 3
175 for 3
195 for 1
205 for 1
225 for 1
230.

I also kept lifting. I followed my max with 2 PR sets of seated db military presses with 80s.

Which reminds me, today, after my chest workout, it was time to move on to tris, where I was doing dips for 3 sets. I got 8, 7, and 7 reps out, with a 100 lb dumbbell attached. That's right. New PR. :)

Ha. Thanks a lot man.

Let me clarify something real quick. 185 was not my record. I had done 210 before. That was when I was about 183 lbs. I cut down a little bit to around 170 right now. Right after I cut is when I did 185. But, whatever, still a PR.

And 365 is my current dead record. I'm hoping to get at least 375. With any luck, I might jump up to 385.

100 lb dips thats good shit

go for broke on the deads just get some people to yell at you, call you a pussy and realy get heated !!

cool new avatar too

MOTHERFUCKER

Well, today was my deadlift attempt day. I wanted to get at least 375 (my previous PR was 365).

Everything went up with ease ...

135 for 5
225 for 3
275 for 2
315 for 1
375 for 1. NEW PR!!! BUT .... I injured my fucking back. It hurts so fucking much right now. I just want to break something. I want to go in my room and put a hole through the goddamned wall. I am so pissed off right now. And the thing is, I knew I could have prevented this. I fucking let it go to my head. The weight went up so easily ... and just as soon as it went up, my back got fucked up. Lesson to you all. Don't lift with your ego. I am so pissed. I KNEW i could have pulled 405 today too. GODDAMMIT!!!

Who's got some good rehab tips?

that sucks bro

why do you think it happened? were you too fired up and didnt worry about form ? damn im sorry for you nothin worse than having to take time off

Alright ...

My back is feeling a lot better than yesterday. After the injury, I sat at the gym and stretched for like 15 or 20 minutes. When I got home, I popped 3 Motrin, and applied ice and heat in 30 minutes intervals. Today it's feeling much better. I'm soon gonna take a couple more Motrin and try to relax. Not gonna work though, cause I have to go to work. But I ain't lifting shit today. :)

Well congrats on the personal record. This is why I never max out. . because it increased the risk of injury. When this happens, your training can be set back.

Loudin, IMO I think you should test the waters every now and again. Why not check and see what YOUR ORM is? :)

I am sure that if you do infact use the proper form and own a positive attitude, anything is possible. :)

Well really whats the point? Powerlifters do this, plus I like to break personal records by increasing weights and adding additional reps. I need to recruit muscle fibers, not test the CNS.

The point is to see how far and how fast you are progressing. To see how strong you are getting. To see how strong you must become until YOU are satisfied.

I am pushing ORM training from time to time bc it really helps me in my quest to become stronger and more powerful. I think it could help you too Loudin. We are both mortals.

You said it best though. You liek to break personal records by increasing weightsa and adding reps. Diff't strokes for diff't folks. Rock on brother. :goatslaye

My back feels SOOOOOO much better today. I dunno what it was, but I think the pain has totally left my body. I feel like I can go pull that 405 shit now. haha. Nah. I'll wait a while for that one. Glad I have this week off. Time to let that CNS recuperate.

To everyone who tossed out the encouragement, thank you very much. I know I wouldn't be able to push/pull this much weight without the help of everyone on this board for the past year+ I've been here.

reverse hypers dude!

Theya re your best friend if you pull. For rehab do em on a swiss ball, that way the spine flexes - thus erectros are gently massaged

I hear ya man. I LOVE rev hypers.

on a ball im gonna try that

why do these help you though if your deading big weight, theyre just your body weight ?

Im glad your feeling better buddy!
I'm with louden on the PR thing... I just hate the whole idea of risking hurting myself... put myself out of the game too many times already... lesson learned for me anyways... but like hammer said.. different strokes for different strokes...

KEEP GETTING STRONGER!

its for restoration purposes, pumping fluid into the spine and erectors. Decompression etc

The ball makes your spine flex - all good, otherwise you may as well do exercises that staticly contract the erectors, and most deadlift exercises do that anyway :)
