Do people in the US coddle their children too much? I don't think I've seen so many children living with their parents well into their twenties and paying very little or no rent.
 
Of course they do! I may be way off base here...but just take a look at the kiddies walking to school in the mornings! They are so protected...they are required to wear helmets if they ride the bike...and also if riding a bike and going across a cross walk they have to walk the bike across...which I dont understand. Also, crosswalk guards at every freaking stoplight....and 15 mph school zones where everyone drive 5 mph!

We didnt have any of that when I was a kid and we all seemed to make it to school safe and sound and on time!

I'm not the 14 year old you covet, true enough, but I'm still youngish. And since I'll be living until I'm 92, I'm practically a baby.

Yes they are, and I've been repeatedly called a cold hearted bitch for encouraging my son to enter the military out of high school since he had no ambitions or plans.

I mean, both of my parents lived on working farms growing up. They were up working fields and tending stock before school, going to school, coming home to finish chores, then do homework and go to bed. I basically did something similar growing up since we owned horses, so for me it was go straight to the barn after school, muck stalls and otherwise tend the animals, go home and do homework before bed.

What's the worst most of our kids have to do, wait a week or two before they get their cell phone?

A combat posting is a life changing experience and it does have some strong negatives, depending on his choice of service/assignment, I wouldn't change a thing about my life. My mother went through more than I did...:)
 
i think its funny that the stuff we did as kids today is illegal, for instance riding in the back of the station wagon with the rear window down hanging out the back, today your parents would be arrested, I survived
