leg thickness-width

I've been pounding the shit out of my legs for a long time and what i've come to realize is... they are seriously getting thick (front to back) as hell but i'm not seeing the width as much. My inside 'tear drop' is buldging nicely but the outside isn't really getting the width, just thicker. thick to were no jeans fit anymore.

is there something in my foot postion on squats/leg press i can change to get the width to start coming?

What kinda of leg routine are you doing and how often? I really need to do some leg work always trying to figure what works for others. An amature body builder in my gym told me that turning your toes in would put emphasis on the outer thigh. Dont really know, but that lil dude had some beefy quads. Might be worth a try.

i'm doing a DC style leg routine. i was doing Omega's but i wanted to switch it up for a little while and go heavy as possible.

and i always have a slight point outwards.

I have seen that several people are using the DC style routine, I am fairly new to all of this and have no idea what that is.

My toes point outwards as well, when I squat, thats kinda how me and this guy got on the subject. My legs, although very strong, are not as develpoed as my upper body and need work. I have been so focused on the upper half that I have neglected the lower.

Have you ever tried sissy squats? It takes a while to get the form correct but it isolates the HELL out of your quads.

Sounds like you're hams are really developing (thus the front to back).

I just realized that if you do a google search for sissy squats you will get videos of women doing "sissy" squats.

I'm talking about the ones named after Sisyphus who Zeus made roll a boulder up a mountain for eternity.

I can post a link to a good article but its another fitness site. Not sure if that's allowed. I'm sure you can find them. Trust me, you'll know.

that does make sense, pointing the out will hit the tear drop.

my feet have to point out, they are crooked, lol.

be careful going toe-in, only should do it very slightly. If you do it at too much of an angle, you'll royally screw your knees up.

Tried a few toe in squats just getting loose at the gym this morning, they are pretty damn brutal. I definately would not advise toeing in to far. Their pretty damn rough on the knees. A set of good young, strong knees might be okay with it, but my old ragged ass knees cant go to heavy like that. Worked the shit out of my outer thigh. thou.

What three leg exercises are you rotating? Shoulder width Hacks and shoulder width Leg presses have really added to my outer quad sweep. I have/had the same problem as you. These are helping. I do my squats with more of a wide PL stance, because it allows me to use the most weight. It is easier for me to focus on just my quads when using hacks/presses, where when I Squat it is just an all out effort to move the weight.

leg press
squat
box squat

my gym has no hack squat or any other kind "compound" leg machines. i will try the wider stance.

You do front squats at all?

no, but i have been doing some form research and might give them a shot.

don't get me wrong my legs are growing at an awesome rate but i just wish they would go wider faster than thicker :rainbow:

DC is for more advanced BBer's who have pretty much exhausted growth on several other programs.

I would go for rather for varying the width stance, than the whole idea of twisting the feet inward or outward, for quad training twisting inward is asking for knee injuries... You would benefit more from narrow stance squats, sissy squats, front squats etc...
