I want to go to a club on saturday nite. I need some tips on becoming a better dancer. I am not really comfortable until i have a few beers. Anythign else i can do to get better or more sure of myself. thanks in advance for your help.

i dont think anyone can really learn how to be a good dancer. some people are just naturals, but i think most people get their dance moves from going out constantly, watching other people, and FEELING THE MUSIC!! when im loving the music, you cant get me off the dancefloor. just relax and let loose man :)

go to SF.....i think you can pick up a lot from people there....basically you have to let yourself go and feel the music...SF has one of the best vibes of any club i have ever been to and is one of the most comfortable clubs to let loose at...because everybody is dancing everywhere and nobody seems to care...everybody is raging...

I love those circles that form late moring at factory, most of those dancers are really talented...Looking forward to jumping in one of those and rippin it up !

let loose on the dance floor is hard for lots of ppl. dancing is nothing like anything else in normal day life. for some its impossible

That's precisely why it's easer than most people think. A club is one of few places you can just lose it and no one cares.

Feel for the beat, don't just 'listen' to the music, relax your body and start moving your hips. From there, make it up as you go and before you know it you'll be movin' and groovin'.

Damn i feel like groovin' right now.

my legs are still hurting from moving and grooving this past sat/sun.....SF sunday morning, the music wasn't the best, but the good circle dancers were out in full effect....i ripped up a sweat for about 4 hours...in the basement, in the upper level, everywhere...and i didn't know a single person i was ripping it up with...they just except the fact you are enjoying the music like they are...

gotta love and hate SF...cause it sucks you in...what other club has this right now..tell me, cause i want to check that place out....(i know Space in Miami, the deck, has it too, but i'm talking about in the NE)

a SF trip....i smile just thinking about it, but it has to be unplanned....ie...go up to north jersey/nyc to a club earlier, (not even mention SF the whole night)....get all fired up because we didn't get to dance enough or because the music sucked (happens quite often anymore:( ).....then one of us when we are walking to the car say..."we could always go and check out SF??!!"...

the rest would be history (and agony on Monday)....

G will take your inhibitions away quick, plus it won't make you sloppy or sluggish like alcohol. Just don't take too much...

I had the same problem. You must practice in the mirror. Do it like a work out 3-5 times a week for 30 or more minutes. Watch music videos and Soul Train. Watch what they do and do it, be it. If you have physique and can dance a little, you get attention. Even just moving the hips to the beat, women like!

I learned how to dance by endlessly going to dance clubs and taking courses for over 2 years . I think knowing how to dance is one of he best qualities to have as a person.

g.....as in ghb.....and it is true it will help.....e also helps unless u get a dirty pill......but basically the best way is to go clubbin and watch ppl dance.....try to copy a couple moves here and there.....thas how i did it...i naturally have been a good dancer....so i pick up shit quick...i picked up that whole guido style dancin shit in 1 day by watchin guys at SF...after that eventually it'll become natural....

I haven't replied to this thread.

I dunno... my philosophy is that if you go about with the mindset of "learning to dance", it's not going to happen.

You either FEEL IT or you don't... Period! I LOVE dancing. There is nothing better than an "on night" out, when everyone in town is feeling it, the music is good.. just good vibes.

You don't LEARN to dance..... You LET yourself dance! You LET yourself dance!

not true bunkka...u can have ur objective being to learn to dance........and end up pickin up some moves.....in fact its a good way to learn to dance....but eventually to make it smooth and natural...u have to feel it as u said...otherwise it will look to robotic....but sittin there and tryin to learn moves gives u suttin to work with...

Well, yes... there are obviously some dance "moves".

But when starting to just dance, it's most important to just let yourself go... lose all inhibitions... and any stiffness you bring to the club w/ you.

Before you try to "learn" just allow yourself that freedom of movement and soul. From there, everything else will fall into place a LOT easier.
