It affects your whole back and body. The Deadlift is one of the most important excercise because it works so many muscle groups. The lats contract either to pull weight or to hold it. Whne doing deads the lat flex to hold a weight it would not naturally be able to pull, but this menas the muscle are in constant contraction to hold the muscle and this leads to growth because of the intense muscle stimulation over such a long range of motion and time.....
