Last night dinner =$1240.00 Tip = $3.00

You should have wrote, "Your service sucked" under your signature.

If I was a waiter and 15% of a 1200 bill was hopefully coming my way ($180) I would be checking to make sure you were happy, bringing out extra bread, clearing plates, cleaning off crumbs...shit, I would give out free desserts...

Did someone else do all that shit? The busboy, the chef, anyone? If not, the tip was well deserved.

You left an.0024% tip!! HA HA !!!

Yep, that's right. Myself, my boss and a client had dinner last night to go over some issues of acquiring our services.

Now the dinner wasn't that expensive, about $500, but it was that we had 3 bottles of very expensive wine, and then we sent another 4 bottles out to different tables. Sent one bottle to a table where this Italian dude was clearly so full of himself and on a first date to boot. He was doing nothing but talking about himself with his little square toe shoes. So I sent a bottle over there to the girl he was with. Man, you would have thought someone threw ice cold water in his face. He just shut up right away and finished the meal with a look of stun on his face.

Anyway, as the title says, I only left a $3 dollar tip. Can you believe that? And not by accident either. I don't know what the fuck the waitress was doing. When we sat down, we brought our drinks from the bar. We ordered and we did not even have table water until the meal came. Even then, it was the chef that brought our dishes. When we ordered more cocktails, I actually had to go back to the bar to get them as she wasn't coming around. All she did was take our order and then prior to us leaving bring the bill.

So, when I fill out the AmEx bill.. I put down $3.

Was I wrong?

I have left a dime before.......the waitress gave me a look.....I expressed that is WAS a dime because I had nothing smaller to leave.

it was a 10 buck tab......

I used to wait tables......its difficult....my experience was at a buffet.......she did NOTHING....no silver, napkins, refills NOTHING

I'd of done the same thing bor! Nothing turns my crank more than a piss poor waitress or waiter. Granted, off a bill that size alot of times they add in the gratuity so she may have made out better than she deserved.

I'm curious how many of you guys (besides Shadow) have waited tables before? Y Lifter is correct. If the service was that bad, you should have talked to the manager. Leaving a low tip accomplished nothing. Then again, I used to wait tables in college, so if I leave something less than a 10% tip, there was a MAJOR problem. Otherwise, I leave 20% or better.

I signed my credit card receipt .025 for a tip once,i didn't want the bitch to think i just forgot to tip her i wanted to let her know what a shitty job she done.
Of course my dinner was prob only 40-50 bucks since a was at Applebees.

I waited tables while I was in college, so I tend to tip more than most. But if I had an experience like that I'd leave a shitty tip. Y lifter's right though. If you didn't say anything to the manager nothing was accomplished. $3 is such a slap in the face. Sounds like she deserved it. It's not the hardest job if you're organized, and if she's at a place where 3 people can drop over a grand, the manager fucked up hiring her.
