Lasers on Airliners?

yes one of the pilots even suffered from vision problems after being under this laser

My understanding was that a "true" laser will burn out your retina with minimal exposure.

Seriously though, I'm not sure if I would panic just yet. Wouldn't it just be as easy for someone to pickup an RPG and launch it at those planes rather then use some sort of laser targetting system?
