I was wondering if any of you guys had ever had this operation done? I am considering it but I am unsure of the results for the amount of money

What do you guys think? Any experiences with this sort of thing?

I have heard a good doctor can get you to 15/20 eyesite

shop around and do one eye at a time

If you have a good doctor you don't need to do them seperate.

I got it done about 6-8 months ago.. went from 20/80 or something to 20/15. Definately worth it.. there aren't many 15 minute surgeries that can change your life so drastically (besides vasectomy, I guess).

The only side effect I had is that my squinty lil eye sockets got cut by the rotary blade while it was cutting my eyeball, so that was below average. The cut itched like a mother, but you can't rub your eyes afterwards, so it was like slow torture.

You also get to wear these sweet looking space goggles for a couple days.. I suggest buying an old aviator helmet to wear during that time. That way, the goggles won't look so out of place.

I had it done in November of 2000, my eyesight before surgery was 20/400, real bad, I had both eyes done at once..after a few days I was seeing pretty damn good…but still not perfect and was squinting a lot…I’m at about 20/30 now which is VERY annoying so I now wear glasses when I drive or got the gym so I can see the friggen mirrors or so which hot bitch is waving at me from the cardio deack! Im going back for my “tune up” next week, to correct me fully and its only $100 for the tune up as opposed to $2500 originally.

Do any doctors offer a guaranteed range of vision?

Is there a particular traite I should look for in a doctor?( Othan that he be an actual doctor...lol)

My doctor said they guaranteed at least 20/40, which is what you need to pass the state eye exam to drive without glasses.
Around 99% of their patients had 20/20 or better.:)

Mine went from 20/400 to 20/20.:)

I was considering it also, and my folks even offered to foot the bill. I am 20/400 right eye and 20/100 left eye. I asked around and heard only good things about it...so I was all for it. Then, there was a report on the CBS news about it that scared the shit out of me, so I backed down. I figure, if something goes wrong I have a long life to live and that would suck...maybe when I am 40 but right now I'll stick with my trusty contacts. :D Not trying to scare you, hope it helps you if you do it.

Thanks for all the input guys, karma for all:)

Hey Guards, I'm having mine done in December of this year. I personally know my Dr, and work around him almost every day. Two things you want to make sure your Dr does is #1, he needs to be using a VISSEX laser. This is the newest and most advanced laser there is. Your surgery will cost more if it is being used, but it is far worth it. #2, make sure your Dr and the laser both use corneal mapping. This is an absolute must when having it done. My vision is about 20/60 which is not all that bad. My Dr pretty much assured me to be a perfect 20/20 after the surgery. The price of my surgery is going to be around $1,600 per eye. This price is very fare for the the equipment being used. I have seen ads for the surgery in the local paper for as little as $400 per eye, but hey, you get what you pay for, and I guarantee you arent getting the VISSEX laser. When it comes to my vision I will spend the extra to assure myself the results I'm expecting. Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.

I posted this same question on another board awhile ago and someone told me that the operation only lasted like 10 years. I had never heard that before and was wondering what everyone else had heard. I thought it was permanent with maybe alittle lose of vision as you get older.

i had both eyes zapped almost 3 years ago, was nearsighted, needed glasses to drive or see television, NO MORE!!!!!!!!

i only wish it was around 20 years ago.

here in the big easy we have not one but two pioneering LASIK specialists, brint and mcdonald. they both literally wrote the books on LASIK surgery.

gaurds, PM me or email me if i can answer any questions you have.
