i always heard a dead snake (with it's mouth still open) can bite and inject venom but can't strike.... it scared me the first time so i didn't watch it again but i think someone just pulled it with a string!? then again it could have been alive and captured in a zoo setting somewhere and it just snapped like a python cause it was pissed..

yeah, whenever we would cut a rattle snakes head off with a shovel, we'd always bury its head....

I was actually joking. I'm pretty sure that thing was alive.
