Knee Surgery for Mballs.

Hey fellas,
So I go in this Thursday to have Knee surgery. I'm having my Quadracep tendon shaved, Holes drilled in my knee cap, and Othroscopy to remove pieces of torn miniscus. It will keep me in the hospital for one night, where I will space out on a nice morphine drip. The surgeon performing the operation is a Knee rock star, who pays his bills by operating on injured athletes exclusivly. I'm hoping that his reputation is wel deserved, because in my sport knee sugery is like shoulder surgery for a pitcher. One fuck-up and it's over.

It is my off season now, so it was time to get the squeky joint oiled. My off-season training regimine doesn't begin till late june, and by then I hope to be back in full training mode, happily puking in the corner of the weight room after a nice high rep set of squats.

Anybody ever have any part of this procedure? It's doubtful that anybody has all of them at once like me, but I figure that it's worth an inquiry.

If M.O.D. can do a set of curls five days after back surgery. I can sure as shit be in top form by the end of June.

Here I go.

Sorry to hear about you going under the knife! I have been there 3 times with my knee so enjoy the morphine while you can! Just coming back from a dislocated knee myself no surgery this time! Good luck and train hard & smar, protect that knee.

Mb, I am a college baseball player and have undergone 2 knee surgeries both times I tore the medial meniscus and the first time I tore my MCL also. After the first one I did not take my rehab very seriously and ended up tearing it again. The best advice I can give you is to rehab as hard as you can but don't try to come back to quick, also stretch a lot and try to build up your quads and hams again, you will be back to heavy squatting in at least 8-12 wks. I pm'd you so I hope you will get back to me and any other advice or anything I would be glad to help, good luck Trojanball

Good luck to you.

BTW - is your Dr. in Pittsburgh?

Yep. Pgh has some really great orthopedic doctors.

Trojan...all ligaments are totally intact. So re-injury is not a problem.
Dr. says I could safely resume squating in as little as four weeks.
I'll be on a stationary bike in ten days after surgery.
I'll be walking up hills backwards in 12 days.
And I've already got my leg day planned out...exactly 28days after surgery. I will paint the squat rack with my vomit.

MB-

Good luck at the butchers Thursday. If you prepared right, your recovery should be nice and fast.
I go in June 17th. I need both knees done, but only doing one at a time. I'm having the knee cap scraped and my meniscus is torn in several spots. Once I recover from that one I have to have the other one done too. Scrape the knee cap and I have some play in there he says he can tighten up. I feel your pain...

Good luck and hope your recovery is speedy and effective!

I had my medial miniscus trimmed and my kneecap shaved. I was out 6 weeks.
BTW, I tore it doing a squat snatch on Monday the week before the Master Nationals.

Hey fellas,
The deed is done. My knee is all bandaged up and wrapped in a niffty little device called a cryo-cuff. It's really just an expensive way of using ice. The surgery went as good as it could, and according to the doctor, I should still be able to meet my goal of full activity in four weeks. I feel as week as a kitten from all the drugs, but I've upped my fluid intake to get all this shit out of me. I was given a morphine drip, which made me puke the first time that I used it, and I never used it again. I would rather be in mind numbing pain than deal with nausea. I'm on perscription anti-inflams, which are great, and the pain killer darvocet, which will most likely go unopened.

Tomorrow I start my rehab schedule, which my strength coach will personally conduct to get me up to speed as quick as possible. I've got three 10 minute sets on the hand cycle to sweat out all the opiates and other crap that is still floating in me. Then we move on to the knee.

Thanks for the encoragement. Now it's on to rehab...and planning my million dollar cycle of BTG and GH.
