Knee Problem. Help please!

OK well I been pissing and moaning around here for awhile about my bad lower back, which by the way is doing much better now since I have taken many of you guys advice and been seeing an A.R.T. specialist. that shit works GREAT!
BUT yesterday I was feeling about 70% better and felt like that was good enough to play some softball. BUT the thing is hurts enough that I run akward to compenate for my back pain and that caused me to hyperextend my knee while running to 1st base. Basically when i hit the bag I jammed my leg into it. It didnt hurt too much at the time, but I woke up today in some considerable pain. A really sharp pain on the top/outside part of my knee that especially hurts when i bend or extend my leg. it seems to be the tissue around my knee more so than underneath the knee cap. Just above it and on the outside. Anyway I have been icing it, but was wondering if it could possibly be anything besides a sprain? I see people tear their shit playing in football games all the time and it seems like nothing but then they are fucked for like a year. their ACL? and if it is just a sprain, how long would that take to recoop normally? I am going to see the A.R.T. therapist guy again next week and I will have him check it out, but I was just wondering what I can expect if it is just a sprain? meaning how long before it heals? thanks!

Glucosamine

Bro

I would definitely recommend you start taking Glucosamine, preferably one mixed with Chondroitin.

I do, and my joints thank me for it.

Here is what is say:

Glucosamine "found in cartilage and plays an improtant role in joint health. Glucosamine is an integral constituent in the structure of cartilage, tendons and ligaments which are constantly being rebuilt"

Chondroitin " Anonther amino suger, present in cartilage and connective tissue, it plays an important role in joint care. Chondroitin is involved in the attraction of fluid that lubricates the joints"

My injury (a ligament tear at the top side of the knee) kept me out of squats for a couple of months.

ya i know it is good stuff, i just got some last week and i started taking it, BUT I was having trouble breathing and feeling like shit and then i realised that I was alergic to Glucosamine.... It has the warning on the bottle NOT to take it if you are allergic to shell fish, i should of read that shit before i bought it, but in any case I am shit out of luck as far as that helping me any... thanks anyway though :)

Dont fuck with your knee its not worth it.....Go to the doc and get an MRI. My brother fucked his knee up and ignored it for a wile. Fianlly he went to the doc and got an MRI. He had reconstructive knee surgery a coupe of months ago for a torn ACL......Be carefull

Sorry to hear about the knee prob! I have had 3 reconstructive surguries myself and a bad lower back to boot. If you can't take glucosamine, what about MSM?? You should check into that and see if you would have the same allergic reaction to that.

ya bro i take 2 1500mg pills of MSM each day, started that last week as well and I am fine with that. But my knee is hurt now because of my bad lower back so I know what you are feeling as well bro. Lower back pain is the worse!!!!

Same problem

I hurt my right knee running wind sprints in the gym about a month and a half to two months ago. Same place, top of the knee, and around the inside of the knee where it bends, not under the cap, but it felt like tendons or ligaments. Do what I did, stop all cardio, except riding a bike, wrap the knee tightly with and ace bandage, when walking, and take about 2-4 advils, twice a day, which will help with the pain, and I believe helps with imflamation too. Its going to take a while for it to heal but it will, dont make the mistake that I did and as soon as it feels better jump right back on it, and start trying to run. It takes time for a knee injury to heal up. Does you knee hurt in the back of the leg where the bend is?

no it doesnt hurt in the back at all and my pain is on the outside not the inside. I play basketball and it hurts like a bitch to even take a jump shot, actually its impossible for me to play right now it hurts so much. some guy today out on the court (who has had lots of knee problems) recommended that I keep stretching it. I know exactly when i hurt it when i hyperextended it, I just hope it isnt serious. only time will tell though i suppose! Is it ok to take all those Advils while on cycle????
