Kirbys are cool. I have a G4, but we paid like $600 not the $1200 they were asking. It dry cleans carpet and couches, it has hundreds of extensions, and enough power to get dirt the Orek leaves behind.
Just remember, everything is negotiable. When you are buying a product always push for the lowest price. There is no need to say "okay I want it", until you have the price where you want it. My mom had Kirby, My grandmother had a G2, so I wanted one. They aren't worth the asking price, but the dealers will take lower offers if you insist. They did a demo asked me for $1200, salesboy got me down to $900 with a phone call to his boss as long as I "buy today", and I simply said "it is not worth more than $500", and his boss said $600 take it or leave it. I took it @ $600, and it is still a perfect machine 3 years later.
