KillahBizzle, the Itri to Cranston relationship mystery

I was reading about the town your family is from (looks beautiful, btw) since I was intrigued about the Cranston, RI / Itri, Italy relationship.

Taken from http://www.caffeitri.com/history Web Page.htm

"At the turn of the century and subsequent years, a mass immigration from Itri to America took place. These early immigrants, among them my grandparents, settled in the Knightsville area of Cranston, Rhode Island.

As proprietor of Caffé Itri, I am a second generation Itrani who grew up in this long Italian-American tradition. My passion for southern Italian cuisine was nurtured within my family’s kitchen and is proudly being presented to you."

Ever been to this restaurant (Cafe Itri)?

I am trying to find exactly why this mass movement took place, maybe your parents know?

Cafe Itri is BY FAR my favorite restaurant in the world. When I lived at home I went at least once a week. dinner with parents - Itri. search my posts for "gnocchi gorgonzola at Cafe itri" and you'll find several references. The yellow lines in the road in Knightsville (which is a neighborhood in Cranston) are all painted red, white and green. Where Cafe Itri is is an area called Itri Square.

I don't know much about the movement. I just know that we now have a sister relationship with Itri and their mayor comes over here often.

My elementary school was St. Rocco's. My classmates:

Guido Morrocco
Donna Colapietro
Stephanie DeFusco
Stephanie Florio
Emilio Pillozzi
John Mansella
Ricky Esposito
Richard Volpe
Michael Carnevale
Judi Gonsalves (a poor mexican broad who lived next to the school so thye had to let her in - tee hee)
Joe Ritacco
Angelo Simone
Jen Puleo

God I miss home.

I would absolutely love to visit the place one day soon...make a day or weekend out of it. Do your parents still live in Cranston (and you here in CT)?
