Kentucky Training Day, July 19, 2003

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Well, it is time to use the summer to get ready for the contest on the way this fall. I know that many of you are getting ready for NASS Nationals as well as several other contests taking place in August. Many of you have never touched a Strongman implement in your life and would just love to give it a whirl for fun.

We welcome EVERYONE here to train in July no matter what level you are, if you have never done Strongman before, or how strong you are. Come and train with us in Murray, Kentucky on July 19th at about 12:00 noon.

I know that several people are getting ready for:

I encourage everyone to use this Kentucky Training Day to help kick off their fall training preparation, to test yourself against some other strongmen before the contest, and to gain valuable information about the events and training from others. These training days have been very valuable for everyone as well as a really good time with friends.

I have nearly all of the equipment for all of these contests for everyone to train on...and we always have fun and learn a lot. The video camera and the still cameras will be running all day long.

In April we had 21 people here at my home with about 10 or more of them being from www.elitefitness.com. I hope to have similar numbers (or more) this next time. Here is a link, with pics, from the last training day we had in April. http://boards.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=228433

I have lots of toys to play with and hope to have a few more by then. Here is a brief rundown of the toys that I have to play with for that day:

Stones (160, 185, 190, 230, 245, 265, 285, 310, 320, 345, 365, 415)
Conan's Wheel
Viking Press
4 tires (550, 650 combine tire, 675, 1,000)
Farmers (thick bar, rolling handles, cylinders, plate loaded)
Thick Bars (2”, 2 3/8”, 3”)
Log (8.5”)
Sled
Harness for pulling
Super Yoke
170 Keg
5 Husafell Stones
C o C Grippers
Hercules Hold apparatus
Rope for arm over arm pull
Deadlift Hold set up

I also hope to have several other implements set up by then as well as a better idea what events to expect for NASS Nationals and what everyone else is getting ready for.

I encourage anyone and everyone to come to Kentucky on July 19th and be a part of our Kentucky Training Day. It is a great place to promote your contest, your organization, or even your equipment if you make equipment to sell or have anything that you would like to trade/sell that day to other strongmen.

Most of all, it is a time to spend with a great group of friends. A great time to learn.

I do have a local guy here who is making equipment for me and I must say that it is top-quality and at VERY good prices. Everything that he has made for me looks like it came out of a magazine or off of the internet but for a MUCH cheaper price. I believe that he will have my power rack/monolift set up here that day as well as a few of his logs, farmers, grip tools, deadlift assister, and many other implements. If you need anything built…it would be a great time to have it made and pick it up while you are here.

I hope to see everyone in Kentucky in July!!!! Please email me your thoughts about this Training session so that I can send you directions as well as motel accommodations (very reasonable in this area).

just a little........... but not too so bad. maybe just a tad bit uneasy.

brian

well........ i really dont have the money. between paying for my new membership, paying for my implements from Kingc_79 i had to empty the little remaining left for this. There is a ton of other stuff, not just support gear, but chains and stuff i would like to buy, but i only got a few. I bought the neuprene elbow sleeves and knee sleeves from jackyls gym. i got a lever belt from house of pain with chalk. and some metal wrist wraps from elitefts.com

so an easy 200bucks gone. but thats ok, i have been looking at this stuff for almost 2 months, the contest just gave me an excuse to buy them now. i really want to get that back support like b has, that and some chains.

had to get a weight belt 40bucks, gloves 5bucks, knee braces 15bucks, elbow braces 20+ shipping, wrist braces. yea all this crap adds up. luckily my dad was willing to spring for the entry fee and my nass membership and build my implements for me. Now i've got some samson-power sleves for stones on order(not for contest) another 50bucks. lol and i'm suppose to be saving for a house down payment:FRlol:

dude, check out http://www.jackalsgym.com/store/body.htm they have those things for like 10 bucks. i dont know about quality but price is a big saver. yeah, your lucky, i had to pay for my own membership and the implements. but hey, im still smiling.

i see, you mean those forearm sleeves that are rubber. that's probably why they're cheaper. the others are neuroprene and they have a zipper and velcro for 42$. but thanks, i may still order some of those later on. and they do have tacky at decent price.

kingc_79 said:

whats 10 bucks, they're elbow braces are like 25 ea and knee are even more. which are you refering to?

your right i was wrong. they are 6 bucks each. i just ordered the knee and elbow sleeve yesterday. scroll all the way down under the videos under the topic muhler and it list Elbow/Forearm Sleeves......... those are for the stones specifically.

Julie's trainer Tod? He is a heck of a guy also...

Exodus...I'd love to keep this fun and friendly while still being able to qualify a few people for Nationals. Of course there would be a fun class as well as a 'serious' class.

I need to come up with events though...

Not sure who all will come that might be on Trinity's level...

Thoughts for events???

I am looking at something like this:

Viking Press, log press, or thick bar press
max weight or reps

Conan's Wheel for distance

Atlas Stones, 5 stones for time

Hercules Hold for time

Medley:
yoke, duck walk carry, tire, farmers, sled, keg load (something with at least 4 events...something crazy

I'd also like to do an arm over arm pull of some sort

What do you guys think of this?

KY Training Day Events
7-19-03

Viking Press, log press, or thick bar press (Viking Probably)
Light: 175-200 for max reps
Mid: 225 for max reps
Heavy: 250 for max reps

Conan's Wheel for distance
Lightweight: 400 lbs
Middleweight: 500 lbs
Heavyweight: 600 lbs

Medley: 4-5 part medley, yoke, tire, duck walk or farmers, sled drag
Light: 440 yoke 25’, 550 tire 3 flips, 300 duck walk/150 farmers 25’, 350 sled 25’
Mid: 530 yoke 25’, 550 tire 3 flips, 350 duck walk/200 farmers 25’, 400-450 sled 25’
Heavy: 640 yoke 25’, 550 tire 3 flips, 400 duck walk/250 farmers 25’, 500 sled 25’

Hercules Hold for time
Light: 200 pounds
Mid: 250 pounds
Heavy: 300 pounds

Atlas Stones, 6 or 7 stones for time
Light: 160, 185, 190, 230, 245, 265, 285
Mid: 190, 230, 245, 265, 285, 310, 345
Heavy: 230, 245, 265, 285, 310, 345, 365

Arm over arm pull or harness pull (optional)
Light: Truck for 100’
Middles: Truck for 100’
Heavies: Truck for 100’

Of course, this is all just for fun. And there will also be two classes. One for those just having fun and one for those competing against each other. Since I'd be sanctioning this...I'd probably have to charge something similar to $15-$20 a person. To compete you would also have to be a NASS member ($25 for one full year).

Anyone still interested???

B True

On a side note...I'll have to have AT LEAST 15-18 'competitors' that day to have a contest. Any less and I think it will be a 'no-go'. I might have to have at least 20...not sure just yet.

go to hotels.com and they should be able to get you a good rate, or expedia. both very good. expedia may be better tho.

wanna buy a set of stones to carry back with ya on the plane? lol;)

The drive from Nashville is roughly 2 hours... and, for some reason, I find it to be a killer.

Drove up Saturday morning before the last training day, and had a TERRIBLE day... I blame the drive.... but it's easy to blame that rather than myself.

Trained at Clint's last Monday, but came up the night before... performed a LOT better...

lol I rambled a bit...

BOTTOM LINE - IT'S A TWO HOUR DRIVE!!!!!
