Ken Shamrock got robbed

i wanted shamrock to whoop his ass sooo bad. Fuck the ref and UFC for calling the fight, regarless if he woulda got his head smashed in.

I agree, the fight was stopped way to soon...
 
ya the fight was stopped to soon, but given another 15 secs in would have been stopped either way. shamrock is a pussy always has been.
 
shamrock did NOT even attempt to block even 1 of those elbows so either

A. stop it as the ref did

or

B. let it continue and it would have been stopped anyway

either way it was going at best another 5 secs, shamrock you were great and will ALWAYS be a HOF'er but why not hang the gloves up instead of going out as a guy who gave up on a group of kids that deserved a teacher that was willing to take them and mold them into what they went there to become...such as what Ortiz did, lost alot of respect for Ken on that one and was glad he lost.....again!
 
yeah shamrock did nt give those kids his all. ortiz seemed to be much cooler and a better teacher.

i still wanted shamrock to whoop some ass so we could see another fight.

i wanted to see ken win myself,but the ref did his job!...ken with all his experience knows you cant just lay there and take 5 elbows with out intelegently defending yourself or atleast trying to shrimp out or get up.the ref was correct in his decision.it sucks for the fans but its all about the safety of the fighters!

yup....as a paying customer it did blow but was the right call......ken can only blame himself and certainly not the ref.....
 
I think it was ended to soon. I wanted Ken to win simply because he's old (no offense to any one older) I wanted at least two rounds, not 1 min 9 seconds or what ever it was. Tito no doubt is a better teacher!

Ken "Hollywood" Shamrock is a changed man! I've lost any respect or appreciation for the guy and he's turning the UFC into a circus act. He should have stayed in the WWF where he belonged. What a fucking tool. He's all talk and no show. Shamrock use to be a force to reckon with and he had a good head on his shoulders with decent skills. Now he's just a washed up pin cushion who never got over getting bullied in middle school. Absolutely no respect for anyone and I wouldn't trust the guy to make my morning smoothie.
 
i think kens main problem isnt his age but the fact that he did not evolve as a fighter while mma was evolving...he is the same fighter he has always been since ufc 1.he is not a complete fighter by todays standards.did you see how he went to a closed guard when tito slammed him?he didnt even try to create any space! not very smart in mma!
 
Not saying the fight was stopped to soon, but for $40 I would've liked to see more blood than when I pull the needle outta my glute on shot day...
 
There is no question Ken would've lost, but I still think the ref should've let the fight go a little longer...if not to convince the fans, who paid millions to watch the fight, then at least to make sure Ken knows he got hid ass kicked...Now, with the controversy, they will probably have to fight again...
 
They most likely will fight again. They should have left the fight go on longer but the result wouldnt have been different. I usally root for the underdog and I was half and half on this one. I just like to see shit talkers eat their words. And although ken does talk shit no one in the UFC talks more shit then Tito. I love fights when its personal. Means that much more. I garentee that Ken would take a win over the paycheck and that camaro.
 
The fight was over before it started. Dana White is smart as hell though to announce Silva is coming right after so everyone would stop talking about Shamrock.

This should be the end if the rivalry. Shamrock is 42 and has lost 5 of his last 6 fights. He's done.

Only people who are fighters can appreciate the stoppage. In my 8 years of MMA I've learned to appreciate the power of short, chopping elbows. Shamrock lost after the first one landed.

this was a repeat of the previous time they fought....I remeber rock staggering tito with a right....

The fight last nite ....was it the same fight as before....
 
I think Tito would have won the fight too. But damn lets have a fight first. When the ref stopped the fight and Ken gets up he doesn't have a mark on him. He looks like he's fresh from the shower and just walking into the Octagon. I also agree the heavyweight division is very weak. I thought Arlovski would win the fight. I don't understand why he didn't try at least once to take the Maniac down.
 
ken looked defeated through the whole fight. he couldnt do anything against tito and he knew it. i would have liked to see ken win just for his self respect and beable to walk away feeling good about his career but he is to old to fight anylonger and doesnt have any where near the skills of a tito ortiz. ken was at his best a long time ago and never worked at getting better like everybody around him especially tito.
 
you act like the fight lasted 2 or 3 rounds. How can you look defeated in a fight that lasted a little over a minute. They shoulda let the fight go on. I think it was a joke

He cought a big punch that got him scared and he just was to afraid to get knocked out. The reach advantage is all silivia has against him. I guess his corner is worthless, and they just try to sell him more then they do train him. Why he never tried to take him down was beyond me. Those leg kicks would have had silvia gimping bad if he would have kept them up the whole fight. Pissed me off.
 
I didn't like the fact that they stopped the fight, but according to the rules, the ref made the right call.

I REALLY wanted to see Arlovski win, but he bitched up. Plain and simple. He was afraid to get hit. If you're afraid to get hit, you've already lost.
 
i'm sorry guys but you forget about the shamrock that rocked the prime gracie, the guy who took every submission move from gracie and was not beatable because he was just too strong for submission to stop him. there was less rules back then and no rounds. shamrock is a warrior with a lot of heart he fights to almost the death. give him his respect for stepping in the ring with a younger guy. i'd of loved to see him punish tito. take away rounds and gloves you have shamrock rocking his world sorry. my opinion
 
if you watched the video of last nights fight after the first elbow shamrocks body goes limp. i would have liked to see it go on longer too, but shamrock is just washed up. the ref made the right call i think.

Bullshit, Ken Shamrock is a fraud. A phony. Hes acted tough his whole life but he's not a great fighter. Good he may be but what did you want a couple more elbows to kill him and his face look like it did last time? After the second one look at his face, he was already going to sleep. That dude has excuses for every fight and Im sick and tired of it. Hes been all talk in my book I cant believe you guys actually thought he stood a chance. I wanted him to win as well, but knew he couldnt.
 
Ken didn't have a mark on him!?! Maybe not right away but if you saw him going into the locker room you would have noticed he was already starting to swell up. Sure I would have liked to see the fight go on but as a ref you have to put a fighter's safety before the fan's entertainment.
 
i have a question..will this be the first time that the pride champ fights against
a ufc champ..lidell vs. silva ? (in november).....does this usually happen?

Ken did get robbed ... of an overnight hostpital visit. Those first 2 elbows rocked him, he was in guard, theres no reason he couldnt have brough his hands up , needless to say with regards to the hype and lead up they should have let it go longer for that sake.. but Herb Dean made the right call.
 
I love ken Shamrock, as I was one of the earlier members of the Lions Den. Did the fight end premature? Yes. Did Ken get robbed? No When he missed the foot push off to keep Tito from putting him up against the fence, I knew he was fucked. he would not have gotten out of that position, and there was a lot of time in the match. Im sure Dana told the reff not to let him take 2 much punishment etc... At Vendetta, Tito never got ken up against the Fence, due to the pushoff

It really sucks to see the old schoolers get schooled. I wish they would start having 1 fight every card involving legend vs legend.. Frye Shamrockj shamrock Gracie etc.... We owe it to these guys..They made and paved the way for the sport
 
I wanted to see ken win also. I hate tito's mouth and pretty boy image. I knew that ken didn't stand a chance. Is it just me too or does tito's head look alot bigger in the jaw area these days. Puts me in mind of someone who does a shit load of gh. After the ultimate fighter i lost most of the respect i had for shamrock. I told my old lady before the fight started that shamrock is too lazy to beat tito. Tito's conditionning is a great asset to him, and coupled with the skills and maturity he is attainning, i hate to say it but i think he will be a force to contend with. I can't wait to see liddel and vanderlei.

It probably would be except that I don't think Silva has the belt. He lost to Ricardo Arona in the tournament and then Shogun Rua won the title match between him and Arona. Silva and Rua can't fight each other either because they're on the same team. Silva will just have to wait for Rua to lose the title.

I didn't see the ppv, but if thats not the correct link, the dude got beat in less than 2 minutes. Isn't that what everyone is saying happened in the fight. And that he won with elbows.

By the way, Ken got rocked and he wouldn't have stood a chance if it didn't get stopped.
 
The ref could have let the fight go on for 10 sec. more and the fight would not draw as much criticism but im sure the outcome would be the same. Ortiz winning and shamrock would be a little more banged up. In hindsight i think that the ref made the right call, ken wasnt defending himself.
 
Yea, the fight may have been called prematurely as some say, including me however; I still think the ref made a sound descision in calling the fight. We have to remember that taking multiple strikes to the head can cause some serious injury including death. When it comes to it, these refs have to take into consideration the well being of the fighters and live with the physical outcomes of the fighters. It doesn't take much for blood clots or brain hemorhaging to occur if you take multiple blows to the head in a repeated fashion. All in all, Shamrock got rocked and maybe now he could shut up.

I think Herb Dean made the right call by stopping the fight because Tito was getting ready to tee off on Shamrock's face!! Shamrock should just take the hint and realize that he is Tito's bitch and leave the UFC and save what little pride he has left. Shamrock should be kissing the ref's ass because if it wasn't for the ref...Shamrock would've been even uglier this morning than he already is without getting an ass whipping courtesy of Tito's elbows! Shamrock's a joke!
 
No, Silva is the title holder in pride....he lost to Arona in the grand prix while Shogun beat Ovareem......Shogun beat Arona for the Grand prix belt......not the MW belt.

I was amazed at how quiet the crowd was when they anounced Sliva........most of the crowd doesnt know who Wanderlei is.......they have no idea how big this fight is gonna be....as big as Fedor/CroCop....bigger. Althrough i dont really like him (he murdered Rampage twice), he is the baddest muther fucker on the planet....he beats down heavyweights, scared of nobody......he will destroy Chuck.

He has as good a chance as any of them.....personally think CC will win it though, but you never know, Wandy took both CC and Hunt to the limit and he fuckin murdered Fujita whos a big boy with an iron chin....absolutly destroyed him. I think that CC will not rely so much on his lift high kick as he was there for ahwile (In the Hunt fight and Fedor fights espicially). He killed his last opponent with a few leg kicks. Leg/body kicks along with some more aggressive hands and CC will win it....his TD defence can stop any of the other three guys and he has supperior standup, except maybe to Silva.
 
Big Jon, the other main UFC ref always warns the fighters before he is going to stop it. He would have been like "Show me something Ken, or I will stop it!". Sometimes thats all a fighter needs to snap out of it mentally and give it all he has to get out of a bad situation like Ken was in. Clearly Ken had another 15 seconds worth of ass-beating in him before it needed to be stopped, but Tito is too strong and aggressive for him. Unless he caught Tito coming in with a lucky punch or knee, he would have lost anyway.

Gotta throw Matt Hughes' name out there. That guy has a lion's heart. I've never met him, but he seems like a real cool guy. By far the best coach since the "Ultimate Fighter" aired.

+1 on that. Matt Hughes was awsome. I love the guys mental approach to the sport. On top of that, he is monster strong for that weight class.

I wish UFC would hold an open weight tourney - I imagine Hughes could hold his own against heavier guys.

As far as the pride one, Im hoping Barnett takes it, but my money would be on CroCop.

Silva is on another level. PRIDE is on another level. I wish UFC & PRIDE fighters would fight each other more often. I would love to see Fedor vs. Tito.
 
Tito beat Silva a while back. Got rocked and almost KO'd but he GNP'd to a decision. Tito was a stud back then, age 25. He is what like 33 now?

Personally I would rather see CroCop vs Chuck.

I'd like to see Swick or Anderson Silva against Rich. I think anyone who has punching power has a chance against him. He beats down his opponents but always gets in trouble at least once (think Tanner, Loisseu, etc)

The Wanderlei that lost to Vitor and Tito in the Octagon is not same fighter as today. Chuck will always have a punchers chance, but Wandy will be victorious. Keep in mind Chuck went to Pride, barely got through overeem, in fact he was getting beat, Allister got tired, and got drilled by one of Chucks "looping punches". Chuck went on to get owned by Rampage Jackson, who went on to get owned by Silva, not once but twice

Yeh true but I dont think chuck is the same fighter now than he was before. But this is definatly going to be a good match, we'll have to talk more about it when it happens.

Yeah Anderson destroyed Leben. Swick might not be experienced enough. Maybe a fight between him Anderson would show where he's at.

Why? Cro Cop would slaughter chuck. Silva will too but Cro-Cop would do it even worse, he would be the HW champ of the ufc on his worst day.

What you say is a guess, If there is one thing for sure about the fight game, you can never be sure who will win till the fight is over, especially when dealing with punching power like Lidell.

My reason is because CroCop fights more at Chucks pace, would be more opportunity for both fighters to show their skill and strategy.

Silva seem to rush out and throw everything he has right away and if he does not win immedietly, its usually not his fight. His rushing in strategy will be very dangerous against Chuck, he may win or lose very quickly. Id rather see a war.
 
Silva could bang with anyone at any weight.....proved it by standing toe to toe with CC, Hunt and Fujita, the last two big dudes....i think he shoulda got the decision VS Hunt who was 260+ when they fought. Since its open weight, he can come in around 230 easy. He doesnt rush in TOO quick, only when he has someone hurt, they he attacks until the other guy dies.

Anderson Silva will be a good fight for Franklin but im actually Dana pulls another rabbit out of his ass and signs Frank Shamrock back to the UFC. Hed be the MW champ.

I think since MMA is becoming more popular, we might see more cross org fights, seeing as this Wandy/Chuck fight will no doubt be a fucking phenominal success. Henderson VS Franklin....Shogun, Arona VS anyone (Tito). Fedor commiting homicide on Tim Sylvia would be nice also.
The options are many.
 
I agree that the ref stoppage was a bit early for most of the guys like me that dropped the $40 to watch it. However, by the rules it was justified. I have a feeling the powers that be already knew what the outcome would be, and instructed the ref to not let Shamrock get fucked up too badly. That way Shamrock could retire gracefully like Coutour did. Unfortunately Shamrock popping up immediately after the stoppage, and playing it up for the pissed off crowd, will probably lead to a Shamrock vs Ortiz 3 = ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

Silva being brought in from Pride is the mark of a new era in MMA. I heard Dana White has a deal in the works w/ HBO-one of the conditions is that boxing cannot be talked about as if it's an outdated sport nobody wants to watch anymore(even if it's true). Obviously HBO knows this already, but wants to phase boxing out slowly and milk it for all it's $$$ worth over the next 5-10 yrs. There's also been talk of UFC and Pride trading off fighters to increase MMA popularity even more. It's just a matter of time before someone like Budweiser comes forward with big $$$ and the UFC fighters start getting paid decent $$$. It will still be awhile before their salaries rival most pro athlete's income, but $50K per UFC fight will be a lot better than the $5K-$10K most make now.

I also must say UFC's heavyweights suck ass compared to Pride's, but The UFC's middleweights are better than Pride's. Combine the organizations and PPV might actually be worth the $40. After dropping $40 on the last 3 PPV's in retrospect I wish I bought a few bottles of test instead.

Fedor is the man. The guy looks like he just rolled out of bed-even in the pre fight stare down. Next thing you know he pummels his opponent and his arm is raised in victory. Cro cop kicks ass too-both would make Arlovski or Sylvia look like boy scouts in a match.

Speaking of Arlovski/Sylvia-I've seen girl boxing matches that were more entertaining.
 
I will give silivia this though, if he gets his hands on you in the first round, and you dont catch him bein a sloppy ass, ur done, but he is a "one round fighter".
 
I think Arlovski wasnt mentally recovered from that KO, he should have taken a couple warm up fights ( or some Halo, lol ). He lacked his aggressiveness once Silvia landed a few shots. Speaking of heavyweights, Mir looked like shit. All fat and sloppy, unless he took the fight on a weeks notice he should be embarassed.

Mir looked disgusting. The only thing i could have thought of was he got his weight up to match the other dudes.. Other than that he sucks.
