Ken Caminiti...My Friend and Teamate

Most of you by now have heard the news about Ken Caminiti passing away today. Ken was my teamate for the years in Houston, and we roomed together in Spring Training. Ken will no doubt be the next poster boy for the people against AAS. I am here to tell you first, that Ken was an outstanding man, that would do anything for his friends and teamates. He took me in, let me stay at his house and made sure I was taken care of. But he did everything hard. He drank hard, ran women hard, used AAS hard, GHB, cocain, the whole nine yards. He just had that personality, Type A I think they call it. He drag raced hot rods, rode Harleys at crazy speeds and lived at full throttle at all times. He once told me that he didn't think he would live to see the age of 50, guess he was right. He just got hooked up with the wrong friends and put himself in bad situations.
I don't know if AAS had anything to do with his death, but there are going to be millions of people that think so, because of the media. I believe he did abuse AAS, and no doubt messed himself up because of it, but he did alot more than that, hopefully we can learn from his life and try to avoid the pitfalls that he fell into.
Ken gave me his glove and I have it hanging in my game room and it will be there forever. He was a great man and a great friend and I will truely miss him...Peace Ken

I'm very sorry for your loss. I think the key word here is abuse. Abuse of over the counter substances can kill. But your right, I'm sure the connection will be made to steroid use and not abuse.

It was sad reading the news of his death this morning. He achieved what many will not in their lives. In the end I wish his family the best! Friends too! It is always hard to lose a loved one. From what I have read he was an outstanding ballplayer, friend, and father... he will be missed!

i have lived in houston for 18yrs i enjoyed watching him play for the stro's and the padres..sucks. My condolences to his family and freinds. As i was reading yahoo i also noticed Crhistopher Reeve died too...when it rains it pours

he was a great ballplayer. 3 time gold glove winner at 3rd base and all-star to boot. I am sorry for your loss man. What a great looking left handed swing though.

The talk has already started. I dont know if the media has said anything about his AAS use, but at work this morning people were talking about his death and saying that he used steroids and that must've had something to do with it.
