Keep guns out of reach of children

a 4 year old girl in Knoxville was shot in the head when she found a 25caiber handgun on a computer desk. She is doing ok she is in UT hospital right now recovering.
This stuff scares the crap out of me, which is why i dont own a gun

Did the gun belong to a parent?
There is no reason to have a loaded pistol in the house - it takes second to load and cock. Stupid people are to be feared not guns - people need to take some responsibility for their poor actions. Had the gun been properly stored it woud have never happened.

If you own a gun it should be stored safely period.
There are hand gun locks you can put on the pistol so the trigger can't be pulled if you MUST have it out in such a manner.

I don't buy the theory that growing up around guns make you more likely to shoot someone. My friends and I got in a lot of fights growing up, we all owned guns, but we didn't go around shooting people. Kids who are never exposed to guns are more likely to fear and hate them, and more likely to misuse them.

I couldn't agree more.

People that are expections to that are going to damage with any sort of weapon that they can get their hands on because they're not all there mentally.
