How much money does it take to produce a movie like this with all the special effects , actors salaries etc: and what is the return on the investment for example: how much does it make at the box office , rentals etc:

The building they blew-up was scheduled for demolition anyway. I'm sure that alone saved a pretty penny.

I read it cost like 60 mil to make the movie 300. Special effects are going down in price. Now for Batman with all of that live stuff going on it costs a fortune, plus throw in 40-50 million for A list actors. Pricey$$$

Most movies have a budget - not that they ever hit the number but I think you can find out how much they spent if you want. I'm sure TDK topped 200 million to produce (what a typical big blockbuster is going for these days) but generated 1 billion at the box office, never mind DVD, merchandise and stuff like corporate sponsorship dollars. You do the math.

Thats what I was thinking. The A list actors salaries alone were a fortune.

I saw the same number (180 mil)

Burton's original Batman back in the 90's only cost $35 million (not adjusted for inflation).

I think Cleopatra is the most expensive movie of all time (inflation adjusted) and that cost about 300 million.

WOW, why was Cleopatra so expensive?

The films budget was $185mil and that usually doesnt include most marketing costs.

Made just over a billion worldwide. #2 on the all time money making list right behind Titanic.

Doesnt mean that the studo gets $1Billion - $185mil, however. Bale, Nolan, Freeman, and probably Oldman and Caine to a lesser extent have "points" built in, which means they get a nice piece of the back end.
