I'm in his corner. I'm a former drama geek (though my acapella group in HS was made up of a lot of popular girls), and even I think this dude's attitude is ridic.
Someone says no to glee and he's all "Gay bashers!!!!"
Dude, seriously? Maybe they just don't want their music turned into bee bop bubble gum crapola.
I like the show but the creator really overcooks my grits.

Thespian here myself... just watch Glee like I do... I relive the good old days watching the dialogue, then when they go to sing I fast forward through the songs haha.

I can appreciate the freedom of a purely objective pursuit. No interpretation required. Like you said, either the result fulfills the need, or it doesn't.

lol, I FF through most of the music. Though, I like lea michele and jonathan groff, I saw them both in their spring awakening days.
Honestly I'm touch and go....sometimes it's boring...sometimes I can't get past the fact that pretty much everyone is unlikeable except wheelchair boy. I watched season one, but none of season two....I think whatever nostalgic appeal it had for me previously wore off at that point.

I think that he's just taking advantage of the output of the boy band era.
He created the boy band era. Those acts were all prefab.
