to revolt against a gov't that has become tyrannical. It is the right of every free man to own a gun. And as a warning as well he also stated that if the revolt fails you must also be willing to suffer the consequences.

Unfortunately, many have forgotten his words and the words of many of the founding fathers in their liberal and self-styled interpretation of the constitution.

So, while we still have the right to revolt, we cannot because we no longer have the means to revolt. The years since 1968 have seen to the virtual disarmament of the people to where we no longer have the right to self defense. Even in our own homes, because you will be sued and the stupid jury will vote to award the criminal (if he survives) or his kin folk lots of your money for defending your life and your families life as well as your home.

So the next time your gettin your ass beat just remember that it is not politically correct to defend yourself. Remember you no longer have the ability to over throw a tyrannical gov't. We are no longer a super power.

We are just plain fucked!

Your right, the NRA are the American people. And fortunately we obey the laws put before us even if we do not agree to them. Well, maybe I should say unfortunately for and fortunately for you.

The NRA are a bunch of right-wing extremists who endorse selling guns to minors and criminals

Why are you worried about guns, why not worry about more real threats....such as Saddam Hussein? Someone who could drop poisonous gas that your guns and rifles would be immune to.

If we don't have peace at home, then we might as well give our land away to anyone with a weapon big enough to destroy it.

RyanH, first off the NRA does not in any way endorse selling guns to minors. They do encourage shooting sports and hunting with proper adult supervision while obeying each and every law on the books. They teach responsible gun ownership.

They in no way endorse nor sell guns to criminals in fact many of the recent laws on the books hammering illegal gun usage were brought forth by the NRA.

Second, I am not the worlds Referee. I did not swear my oath to defend this country only to be sent else where, ordered to where anothers military uniform, and to follow the orders of a person who is not American and would no more care about me or my country than I his.

Real threats such as Hussein? Hmm, tuffy. What about the terroists that use bombs and guns such as those who gunned down the CIA personal while they sat in their car at the CIA's offices? Hmmmm?

How about the careful and responsible ownership of firearms by the Border Patrol and the FBI? If I am not mistaken they had hundreds of weapons that turned up missing in an inspection, some were even traced to crimes comitted after they had been "entrusted" to the gov'ts care. They have had computers stolen containing secret information and personal, private information about suspects, witnessess, and victims.

It surprises me that the very gov't you embrace to protect you and dictate to us how we should handle ours selves can't even do the same for itself with weapons. What a joke.

Something else to ponder. Since the NRA stepped up to bat and started sponsoring firearms safety courses, gun awareness, what to do if you are a child and find a firearm, instructions in marksmanship, hunter safety etc, that accidental deaths have dropped to an almost immeasureable number compared to the population of the US. Automobile ACCIDENTS account for many more ACCIDENTAL deaths than firearms do.

You know what is really funny? Dr's are responsible for the largest number of ACCIDENTAL deaths in this country each year. It is more dangerous to see your doctor than it is to own an "arsenal" and live in New York or South East L.A.

Chesty - A third of the way through you post I stood up, lit a match, and read the rest out loud.

(Do not take that as being facetious)

You are right on the money, and someday, in the future, men like you and I will most likely fight shoulder to shoulder for what is right.

Very well put...The price of our freedom doesn't come cheap and I for one do not believe we should sit by and do nothing about those who wish to dissarm us
