The biggest dumbbell in my gym is 157lbs !!! I can barely lift the thing off the rack with one arm........ it just amazes me how some people can do any exercises with a weight like that !!!

Anyway I have never see one person use them yet at my gym, my question is what is the biggest dumbbell weight you have ever witnessed a person using in your gym and what exercise were they doing ? and what is the biggest dumbbell in your gym ?

thanks for the responses !!!

PS: what coleman does with 200lb dumbbells is insane !!!

Mike,

I see guys who are pro's or at that level using dumbells like you had described bro sometimes. This one guy,...his name:,..."Gerard"...in my gym did seated shoulder presses with warm-up first set, of free dumbells of 175lbs, and then went all the way up to (I think...) 225 lb. dumbells. (Each arm) This guy is at the pro level, and is a monster. he is also super strong. I actually stopped my workout, as well as many others to see his lifts. Insane these guys can actually handle poundages like that. He used three guys to help him lift them off the floor/spotting. All these guys were huge as well. Looks like though,... he would not need any help,...just judging from his lifts.

Good post.

It doesn’t amaze me at all. I was doing 125 on flat for 6+ and there are guys out there that out weighs me by 100's of pounds. If I was 6”1 250 you bet I would be hitting 157’s(there are 157 DBs?) for 10

most I’ve seen a guy hit flat on db’s is 140 I think, and he got 8 or so and stopped with the last one going up just as fast as the first

The heaviest dumhbells Ive seen in person are 160's and Ive watched myself row them for 17 reps, other then that I havent seen anyone touch them.

I have seen dumbells that were 225lbs in weight, as the "heaviest" I have even seen. The are awesome to see. They were so long, I just couldn't fathom how anyone could even balance them through the lift, nevermind lift them up completely, and rep out. A shorst while ago, they brought out 230's, and racked them next to these big boys. Apparently, some guys use em'. Amazing. Most of these guys who use them though, have to be super strong naturally, pro, or at that level w/ the gear to even consider going near these things. Awesome man,...just awesome to see.

Every so often,... sometimes more than others,...you will see some guy using them, and "actually" being capabile of lifting them. Nothing surprises me now.

Thats alot of fucking weight! Id like to try the 200+'s for rows and maybe shrugs, but thats about it. I hardly ever do dumbell presses anyway. Prefer the barbell. I like dumbells for shoulder presses though, but itd take a long time to get 200's on those. haha

225 lb dumbbell's !!!!!!!!!!!! i thought 200lbs were the max !!!!!!!!

that is some crazy ish......

interesting, anyone else ?
