just a quick question:which caliber is stronger .38 special or 9mm?

I would take a 9mm over a .38 any day. Better yet, get a .40 cal glock. Thats some real stopping power.

An excellent point, which is why I would choose a semi auto over a revolver. At least if you miss with the first shot hopefully one of the next 10-12 from a semi auto will find its target verses 5 shots from a revolver.

I think the 9mm is slightly more powerful. Go to the gun section and look it up in any reloading manual by Hornaday or Speer or Nosler or Lee or Lyman or Sierra or Vita Vourri or............

I've read 22 books on reloading. I do everything overboard.

It should only take 1 shot. Remember if you are going to shot someone you are doing it to protect yourself, which means shot to kill, so the person you are going to shot better damn well have a weapon or your ass is grass and will have alot of explaining to do. Second if the person has a gun and you miss them with the first shot, I can almost bet the second round will be fired by the other person.

Laws vary state to state. Colorado has a "make my day" law that makes it legal to blow someone away if they broke into your house. I would exercise that right and pray I never have the chance.
