Hey guys. Since it is too cold outside for me to go running in NY, i was wondering if i woke up 20 mins earlier in the AM, and jumped rope for about 15-20 mins would it have a possitive effect? Or just a waste of time? Wish i had a treadmill but i dont! I do have a cheap excercise bike would that be better then jumping rope?

Also i am on EC stack right now, would it be ok to wake up 6:30am Take EC, and then jump rope, im definately going to need the boost of energy 6:30 is early for me, but since im dedicated ill be able to do it.

Thanks for any input on this....

I jump rope 3-4x a week for 30 min minimum. Definitly a postive effect, especially for fat burning. Yes I do stop sometimes to get my breath and footing but it is way fkn better than the stationary bike. I'm not a fan of running because of the impact on the knee joints. But it's killer cardio. Go for it. You'll be happy.

thanks guys. I STARTED jumping this week. only 15 mins two days. third day had to take off from the great feeling of my calves hurting. but monday in back have my calves 2 days to recover and hopelully ill get them stronge enough to do some good time. but it does feel great it really makes my heart fly and my legs get crazy sore. thanks again.

Damn, i didnt realize how good of a workout jumping rope gives your calves. Im finnally back to about 80% with my calves lol (dont worry its the good type of pain). But i really like jumping rope. im up to 20mins a day, moderate speeds, sometimes fast.

What i usually do is by the end of the workout since my calves are exausted, i usually do like 20 quick ones, and then 10 "jump high" ones To keep my muscles guessing and it feels great.

Ill let everyone know how im doing jumping rope in a week. im only going to go up to 30 mins/max untill i peak my, so i can throw some more in in the future. I should be getting to the gym for the first time in A VEry long time! Im happy about it. AND everyone i know is at MY gym now, because they lowered the price! so hopefully whenever i go there i should have some one to talk to alittle bit. Thanks guys for the help.

I use the rope for 20 - 30 min per day, 5 days a week. Ironmind sells a great weighted rope that will really help you hit the upper body a bit harder.

if you think thats good, get a heavy bag and go for 3 five minute "rounds" with 30 seconds rest between. Sometimes this is all i do for cardio when im really pressed for time.and yes jumping rope is a great workout, some books on it have interestintg rountines

Those are some visciously loooooong rounds. Gotta be in pretty good shape for that. Boxing is by far my fav. cardio also.
