Juiced Politics

New member
For _____ sakes, pleeeeease don't move or delete this because it affects your sponsor's politics (mods).

This has to be said and I'm going to say what I know a shit load of us other non-mod members are thinking.

It's gotten to be rediculous over the past few months with the mod cock fights over their favorite sponsors. Mods are suppose to uphold the rules and exude the etiquette the rest of us are suppose to follow. For the most part, you guys are failing us all. Some of us paid for plat; most have not. For my time and money, I'd like to see the mods start acting like the intellectual, bipartisan gurus that they are (or at least suppose to be).

Instead, all I see is mods (and respected vets at times) go head to head over each other's agendas. Who are we suppose to trust now? What products are we suppose to trust? We've seen topics go to shit over these fights.

I know I'm a newbie and maybe my voice doesn't mean shit (I can live with that). I guess I just expected more from the chosen and "respectable" mods from this particular board. The mod/vet fights over certain sponsors and products are beginning to spilt the board in 2. People are starting to choose sides; it's natural.

Was all this George's original intent?

I agree. Money is a powerful thing. Thats just life. It would be nice if there were no sponsors but then thier would be no EF. Although I think that Mods should leave the bullshit cock fights (mine is better then yours) in thier own forum. What can you do? I just ignore it and know that this site has way more good then bad. And they can deal with who gets my 12$ a month cause I dont really give a fuck.

One thing to remember is that it is human nature to play favorites and take sides. All humans do this. EVERYBODY takes sides or plays favorites at one point or nother. Mods and Vets are no different, they are just human.

However you do bring up a legitimate concern and it is something that has been bothering me a bit lately. I'm not sure how big the perceived "problem" is, or what the best solution is. This is something that I plan to address over the next couple of months.

Agreed. It's something that we can either ignore or something we can try to help. I'm not sure either way.

i moved here from body building.com because the mods and respected vets were all pimping products they are affiliated with, without wanting to endure too much red karma... i unfortunately can see the same thing happening here!

I used to post there as well. I do see a similar pattern - unfortunately :worried:

Yeah, I've seen alot of these types of posts lately..... I've been around these boards for years, and there is always product promotion, no way around it I'd say..... One discouraging thing, I saw one of the newbie guys complaining about product promotion a few weeks back, and the sponsor he named replied, and told him that he's contributed THOUSANDS into this site, and can do what he wants..... I guess I understand what he means, but it didn't come off right IMO.... I don't know what the answer is....

I don't know what the answer is either. I just know something eneds to be done.

K to Lowpro. When sponsore have Mods and Vets in their pockets, it's hard to even get advice you straight out trust a lot of times. Kinda irritates you after a while too. "Oh yeah, brand XXX made by company XXX is the shit". Gimmie a break.

I will tell you what i think about ANY products and or services brought up here at elite, rather they are a board sponsor or a mod sponsor, i really don't give a shit!

i've answered thousands of pm's it seems helping guys who have had this exact same dilemma and its funny that all the same mods always recommend all the same stuff to all the guys that contact me, but thats just the way it is! people have their favorites and they will have them rather they get paid or not!

ur right drrman, but thats just how it is in REAL life too, and we are dealing with real life people. so I wouldn't expect this board or any other board to be any different. thats just how it is...everyone's trying to get their piece of the pie, which is totally understandable.

if people come to EF to learn and get advise, they just gotta filter out the bullshit. just like with everything else in life.

Well said.

The only thing that is different is: there is an ability to change this particualr problem.

I don't listen to what most the mods have to say here. Besides X pretty much I ignore their reccomendations. The best posters on here are the knowledgeble vets who have done it all.

Karma for you. One of the best things anybody has said in a while.

People want to hold us to this mile-high standard. We are just a business trying to do our best to make our customers happy. None of this stuff has any precedent, there aren’t any schools any of us can go to to learn how to run a forum. All the age old rules about human behavior seem to change as soon as people get behind a keyboard. We are doing our best but we don’t have all the answers. I know it is not very reassuring to hear that, but at least you can take comfort in the fact that we DO have the best interest of our members in mind. Even if we don't have a clear answer about the problems at hand, our goal stays pretty consistent, and that is to look out for the best interests of our members so that we can keep them around as customers for years to come...

and i give you MAD props to a GREAT discussion board! its just GOING TO HAPPEN when you have thousands and thousands of members posting on a huge board such as this, there will always be controversy and drama, how the admin such as BRR always seem to keep things in order and keep everyone happy i have no idea! but it comes in waves and the admin here deal with it as it comes......has to be a very tough job

I agree and I hate to even addd to the negativity.

This board has the ability to better itself each day. This happens with members and mods becoming a community. That should be the first goal. Yes, the ultimate goal is to make money. I just hate to see EF digress for reasons that can be stopped by a few important people saying, "it's time to stop."

By all means, push the products. That's life. But, is it possible to to ask the mods and vets to stop fighting in threads over these products? If that's too much to ask (even for a minor attempt) I guess we'll just sit back and take it - we all know us lower members are replacable on a daily basis.

:coffee:

Yes sir, we do hold you guys to a higher standard. It's the products you guys push and the advise you guys give that affects our lives. We must hold you to a higher standard.

The problem is that this bullshit really isn't about the products. It is personal and the products just open the doors to have a way for people top
attack eachother.

Look at the situation closely... It can't be about the products because our sponsors are all selling very different stuff... The fucking products don't compete with eachother... The people involved do.

I'm walking out the door now. I'll check you guys again when I get home. Please keep this thread civil and don't let it turn to shit. I hope the Mods will lock it if it does.

You're absolutely right. That's is the craziest thing - the products don't even truly compete. The products are just the gateway. So, in retrospect, this becomes a double negative. The mods/vets go at it personally (some of us get caught in the cross fire) and the truly validity of the products go without notice.
